I would also like to re-mention Mike, he is a lovely guy with a wealth of experience and knowledge of Hifi, has a really excellent system and amazing eclectic music taste, he introduced my wife and I to a number of different albums (which we purchased immediately). A really great guy with a lovely wife and someone I can now count as a friend.
Paul. I'll have that printed out and pinned up on the wall ! Thanks very much Paul. Always happy to share the music I love >wealth of experience and knowledge of Hifi This is me you're talking about isn't it ?

So, how does the CDX2 sound, Paul? Yes very good indeed. Bizarrely warmer than the CDI but with the same overall balance of treble without any fatigue and depths of bass. vocals seem more pronounced and the soundstage has opened up. There is now quite a margin between what the SBT/Beresford is doing and the CDX2. The SBT/Beresford had caught up with the CDI in terms of detail but not quite on overall pleasure of listening whereas the CDX2 has significantly more detail, a wider soundstage, deeper bass and overall balance is better. Definately worth the money I've forked out for it... Although Mike did let me have at a great price

I haven't heard the CDX2 but I have loved every Naim player I have heard. I adore my CDX mk1 and I have listened to it a great deal since I bought it. I tend to like the same things as you, so I am sure the CDX2 would be a joy.

Thanks mate - I can assure you the CDX2 is a lovely machine and I am honestly surprised how much an upgrade it is over the very accomplished CDI.

Glad you like it Paul
Reminds me I tested the CDX2 for the very first time in the shop on
Jeff Beck - Who else -track 5 - Space for the Papa - stunning as always, then 6 - Angel (Footsteps)
We discussed our Jeff on Saturday - this one is one of the essentials
Angel live on the Ronnie Scott's album

Lastest update is I have bought through Tom Tom Audio a Ex-Demo Naim NDX Network Streamer, which should be arriving tomorrow.
As you guys likely know I am very fond of Naim source equipment and have been extremely impressed by the CDX2 I bought from Mike so thought the NDX was the next natural step forward to replace the Logitech Squeezebox Touch / Beresford Caiman II DAC combo.
Since upgrading the speakers, however much I tried, I just couldn't get along with the Logitech/Beresford combo after upgrading the CD player from my previous Naim CDI to the CDX2. The CDX2 beats it hands down in all areas and I really think that is something along the lines of 90/10 an issue with the Logitech steamer. Whilst it is a good budget player, and in fact remarkably good considering the minimal original price, when comparing it to the CD Player it was trounced. The DAC on the other hand still impresses me, Stan is a master in this area and how he manages to get his DAC's out at those ridiculously low prices still astounds me!
So, like I say, getting the NDX tomorrow and after hooking it up and giving it a few days to settle in, I'll let you know my first thoughts.
Additionally it is like having a double upgrade, as I have kept the Logitech/Beresford combo and replaced my ageing Logitech Squeezebox Classic/Beresford Caiman combo in my bedroom, headphone only system - which has been a worthy upgrade and is making those Grado PS500's sing rather nicely.

So after an afternoon of listening to a large collection of songs with my new Naim NDX, I can categorically state that IMHO the CDX2 has met it's match... If anything the NDX is the overall winner. Whilst I've never been one to learn words of song or even listen to what they're saying half the time, a good vocal is paramount for me, and the NDX is rather magicle in this area, listening the 'Norah Jones - Come Away With Me' is just lovely.... Pics to follow of updated systems

Have you tried the CDX2 through the NDX DAC or is this a pointless exercise ?

My CDX2 is an earlier model without an external digital connection, although they use the same DAC setup so I doubt they'd be much difference.

That's a really smart looking setup. The NDX purchase from TomTom makes me envious They are a great dealer to buy from. I've bought a few things from them and always been delihghted with the item, the service and the genuine helpfulness.

Totally agree, they have to be one of the best dealers I've ever had the pleasure to deal with The NDX ain't half bad either
