I like the knob twiddlers and switch flickers - that never utter a word.

I made some Youtube videos of my own today when trying the three amps I was playing with. Being both lazy and clueless where tech is concerned, I just used my iPad mini. Unsurprisingly the sound quality captured wasn't exactly stellar. Hilariously, the clips seem to suggest the amp that I placed third out of three was actually the best sounding! Everything has a hollow, echoey sound that doesn't bear any relation to what I heard. I'm still glad I made the videos but I'd like to start making some decent YouTube videos of the things that pass through my hands.
Some of the Youtube videos I see online have clearly used something far superior. Has anyone any idea what you'd need to produce a decent sounding video? Currently I only have my Blackberry Smartphone, my Ipad mini and a cheap-ish digital camera that also does video. I can't imagine any of them being great. I'm not after pin sharp video quality, but the sound needs to be better. Has anyone used a relatively inexpensive tool for making YouTube videos thatntheynlookmthethat recommend?

You can't beat a proper camcorder and preferably a decent separate mic.

I have found plug in mics for Ipad but I'm sceptical. Most of them look utter trash. I have never owned or used a camcorder so will do a bit of reading.

Here are some of the vids I was disappointed with. I will post a couple more when I get something with a better mic.
I would love to see and hear videos of other people's systems. With my video skills and the limitations of the Ipad, the bar hasn't exactly been set very high, so please give it some thought.

I'd be more interested in what microphones the good videos are using.

It would be great if some of them listed the recording tools. Ironic really when they are made by people enthusiastic about good sound, yet they neglect to mention this little titbit

Ok, so it's maybe not an ideal way to hear bits of kit, but I love watching YouTube vids of other people's systems on my iPad. I still think you get a good idea of the nature of a sound. I think the videos are fun to watch but I disagree that they give any idea as to the nature of the sound - more a modicum of insight into the use of that microphone in that room.

Interesting speaker. I've seen them in the Sound Org window but never heard in the flesh. Would make a great looking speaker in a modern space,

Indeed. They would also respond well, being used with top flight equipment too!

I'm not a lover of classical, but MAN! This sounds good. Think I prefer these to the Westminsters.

I wonder if this means that Neat will now start using AMT tweeters in the rest of their speakers.

They have certainly experimented with a fair few tweeters over the years. My guess is that they won't have one universal tweeter. More likely that in a couple of years they are using a few different ones again, Fair play to them for continuing to experiment.

Yes indeed. The build quality of Neat speakers has always appealed to me but I've always found their posher models to be a bit over 'tweetered' (in sound rather than just quantity of tweeters).
