The new torch has arrived, it is excellent (assuming you like torches) It has a decent 1020 lumen output on highest setting, about five times that of my LEDLenser T7 on its high toggle setting. I have a bit of a collection now, this does not include basic or head torches, all but 1 of them are LED.

I like torches, too. I have an old 5 LED torch (no brand on it) that's still very bright, although the light is bluish-white. I also have a coalminer's LED torch, superb for working behind the hi-fi system when I need both hands free.

Yhat looks fairly cool but it looks like it has an expensive bespoke battery , pretty much all of mine are now standard batteries pretty much only buy AAA & AA torches, I avoid CR123s they can burn out or Gas/Leak especially with the high current torches, the 18650 are supposed to be better (equivalent to 2 cr123) but I have not tried them friend has just bought a 3800 lumen torch that uses 4x18650 it cost him £80 just for the batteries .

I know it is not very warm in the UK so sorry for doing this but have to post a holiday photo. This is Taal Volcano in the Philippines it is Unique, you are looking at a 20km x 30km Lake inside the caldera. Off in the distance to the right of the Jetty in the middle of the lake there is a another Volcano inside this there is another caldera and another Lake the inner lake is not quite so pleasant as thw inner volcano is semi active the lake is sulphur heavy.

I have had a couple of updates on the portable side of things, I had some AKG K551 which I love but are not that portable and I have some Klipsh X11i which while good and of course very portable I prefer the 551 it just has more detail and sparkle, I also have an Altoids headphone amp which while portable does raise eyebrows with security when I travel. Over the past few weeks I have purchased an Oppo HA2 Headphone Amp/Dac and after much deliberation and a 15 minute listening session at the airport I also purchased some Shure SE425 IEMs which I am so pleased with. The combination is stunning, I was worried the 425 would not sound as good as my 551 but should not have they are lush, vocals are stunningly detailed and the presentation while still in head is multi layered every singer and instrument have their own space, there are complaints that the treble is rolled off on the Shure but I have not noticed this so it must be minimal, Bass is Great too tight and in no way overblown. I am so happy with this right now. Only drawback we are getting in to super detailed presentation so any artefacts or poor recordings stand out.
