Sad to say that sax player Bobby Keys has died, aged 70. Bobby played with pretty much everyone who was anyone, including Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Who, Harry Nilsson, Delaney Bramlett, George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker, but is probably best known for his work with The Stones. Listen to "Brown Sugar." That was Bobby on sax. Daily Telegraph Obit

Mac's gone BBCGreat keyboards in two great bands Ian "Mac" McLagan has passed away; it's a bad week for Rolling Stones sidemen it appears. Mac was best known for being a founder member of The Small Faces, and then The Faces but more recently made a name for himself as a "go to" keyboard player, guesting with The Stones, Chuck Berry, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Joe Cocker, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Westerberg, Nick Lowe, Frank Black and Billy Bragg to name but a few. www.avclub.com/article/rip-ian-mclagan-keyboardist-small-faces-and-rollin-212578

Sad indeed Was that caused perhaps from passive or actual smoking, genetics or other ?
Makes me think of my own mortality with guys of this age, Mac and Joe, what I think of as not really *that* old, especially when you look at the state of the Stones
RIP Joe

It's been a bit of a procession this last couple of weeks. Trevor Ward-Davies a.k.a. Dozy who played with the pop band Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich. Kim Fowley - record producer, singer, composer and entrepreneur who rejoiced in describing himself as the most reprehensible man in pop music. Ward Swingle - founding father of the Swingle Singers, the a cappella group that blended jazz rhythms with baroque and classical music in a distinctive, easy-listening style. Ronnie Ronalde - virtuoso whistler and bird song impersonator whose skills were admired by Frank Sinatra and John Peel, and last, but by no means least Edgar Froese - artist, electronic music pioneer, and of course the founder of Tangerine Dream.

Hadn't realised Edgar Froese was 70. Seems too young.

they're coming thick and fast this year Sadly, it's going to continue. These are the people we listened to in our youth and that generation are all hitting critical age.
