The Funk Mk.I looks like acrylic or similar, the Mk.II looks like glass.

How do you tell a Funk Mk 1 from 2 ? I thought the Mk2 has a raised mat area like the Mike New ones? Maybe the pics are misleading and it is still flat all he way across but has an achromat on top? In which case I don't want one anymore

In which case I don't want one anymore Just had a dealer confirm there is no raised area - just a different material to supposedly improve the mid range That had better be a bloody good midrange for £200 price increase

I have a Funk I ought to sell. Thought there was only one How do I work out which one it is ? Very good point now I know it's not a raised bit in the middle! For all I know mine could be a mark 2 But I think Martin said it's more of a glassy type of material than the matt acrylic type of the mk1? Unless all mk2 have the horrible sl1200 funk plastered all around like the example pic if you search on ebay?? Then you would know about it!!!

funk SL1200 Mkii platter is £840 Funks stunning LSD turntable is £700 ( inc platter ) The Mk2 platter is about £800. I am supposed to be arranging to collect one from Martin T for AK at some stage. It is bonded glass - which Arthur calls "strata" - and may or may not have big lettering on it. The Mk1 platter was machined acrylic The LSD is about £1500 depending on finish. Flamenca is about £700 and the F5 arm (which is fitted to LSD) is also about £750 when sold separately. I certainly preferred LSD to the modded Technics when I was auditioning for Arthur in the platter wars - although the modifications to our Techies were not the full monty by a long way. The LSD has a normal glass platter - like a Rega. The Saphire and Vector turntables use strata platters.

Sounds like I ha e Mk1 then Matt, but not that matt, certainly not gloss (this is a printer talking !) with a cut out around 1-2mm deep for the LP label area

If it's a couple of years old or more, it will be a mk1.

I'm sorry. I may be being a bit dozy, because I have been away a while and joining threads half way through. Nice to see the review of the LSD - I think it deserves it, but I may be biased. The TT sells for $1995 in the USA as it says in the review. The arm is $1295. The review says the arm is so good it could sell for $2000. So its like buying an arm and getting the deck for free. But the deck doesn't sell separately as far as I am aware (its been a few weeks since I spoke with the old git - but I am overdue to go collecting client files and pop in for tea and a bun) According to the website, as of 18.07 27/11/14 prices are Little Super Deck / F5 £1440.00 Black / White Little Super Deck Wood/coloured £1536.00 www.thefunkfirm.co.uk/prices.html. I'll nag him to sort that site out again, but the "Wood coloured" version also includes an F5. It's a turntable with arm for about £1500. Flamenca I see doesn't rate a mention, which doesn't bode well for when I go down there - but was due to be about £800.
