Another bunch of musicMagpie bargains clattered through the letter box this morning. The center-middle/bottom is an album that I'm still waiting for but I've included here anyway. I thought it was worth highlighting it and showing the track listing as it looks rather interesting, and a little bit "different" too. The Joanna MacGregor is another one that has me intrigued, and I haven't even waded all the way through the copious sleeve notes yet. For lovers of organ music the Michael Murray "Organ Blaster" is a cracking album. I was stupid enough to lend out my copy years ago, and never got it back, so when I saw it I just had to repurchase it. As you can probably tell, I do like a nice bit of organ. [Obligatory Ooooh, Matron].

I like Michael Murray a lot and have a few of his Telarc recordings. The one in the Davies Symphony Hall, using that giant Ruffatti organ, has some of the deepest pedal bass I have ever heard in any recording. I have heard Joanna McGregor only once - performing at the Sydney Opera House. Is that a place-drop?

Returning home from town on Saturday, we drove past the old silk mill and I thought I saw a record stuck to a lamp post. That's a bit odd! As the mill is two minutes walk from the house, we strolled back there later to investigate. Turns out someone had set up a record sale in part of the building. Excellent! Pricing was just great, with the copy of the first Jame Taylor album I bought -early Apple pressing in great condition with a slightly ratty sleeve? Three quid to you sir!

The LP is warped and so is on its way back to Amazon as soon as the replacement arrives (I threw out the packaging).

Nick Lowe - The Brentford Trilogy. Three of Nick's albums, The Impossible Bird, Dig My Mood, and The Convincer, packaged together. Included is "The Beast In Me" originally written for his former father-in-law Johnny Cash. In case you were wondering, no, it's nothing to do with the author Robert Rankine's Brentford Trilogy, although it does get a mention in the liner notes. www.discogs.com/Nick-Lowe-The-Brentford-Trilogy/release/3782874David Gilmour - The Endless River [Super Deluxe version] As I mentioned in another post it's a CD and DVD with shedloads of extras, currently knocking around on eBay for bargain prices. www.discogs.com/Pink-Floyd-The-Endless-River/release/6304933

I have all three of those Nick Lowe albums and am a big fan (as I am of the Brentford Trilogy proper as well).
