Some MF gear back in the late 90's - sub par reliability and qc; shame really as I like the company and their gear but once you get your fingers burned... My biggest regret though would have to be a Densen B-400 Plus - broke down 3 times and didn't sound that great either..Very happy to see it go.

A Harman Kardon HD980 CD player. I bought it new but eventually decided it was very thin/brittle sounding so I eBayed it. The eventual buyer tried to rip me off by saying it was scratched and he wanted a discount. I told him no discount but I'd give a full refund if he returned it. He said no, he wanted a discount. I Asked for photos of the 'damage' and suddenly it was acceptable." I'd sold it for less than half what I'd paid for it so the whole debacle pissed me off. An item I'm still trying to forget.

Origin Live Resolution Classic TT.
Horrendous speed drift, all over the shop, uncontrolable.

My worst purchase was a pair of KEF Q35 speakers, which were utter garbage and have since coloured my views (probably unfairly) of anything KEF with a Uni-Q driver. The most disappointing purchase was a Leben CS600 amp which was lovely to look at and use, with a 'nice' warm valvy sound, but musically uninvolving. Luckily I only lost a small amount of money on that. My most ill-advised purchase was a pair of Tannoy Lancasters with 15" MG drive units - bought at the top of the market when they were all the rage, but sounded crap in the little Lancaster cabinets. There was no room for big cabinets, so they went (at a loss).

I think the most dissapointing item I have bought was one of those Cambridge Audio phonostages a few years ago. I really don't understand what the fuss is about these - it may be cheap, but that's about all that's going for it IMO ... In my system it just sounded desperately 'low res' and uninvolving. Fortunately it was very easy to sell on.

Linn Unidisk SC universal silver disc spinner. A horrible 'light & boppy' sound - I loathed it! As a box swapper you just shrug your shoulders and move on, no regrets. But, sadly, during its brief tenure chez-Jerry the going rate on the used market dropped by a few £hundred.
ProAc Future .5 ribbon hybrid speakers. Nice speakers mostly, but soundstaging was weird and I couldn't settle with them. Once again, the regret comes from the loss of several £hundred I had to stomach - an unusual and rare speaker and I seriously misjudged that ex-dem purchase from a dealer!
