Farting in the safety meeting is a bit like " The Voice". You let one go and see how many folk turn round.

I changed my password everywhere to 'incorrect.' That way when I forget it, it always reminds me, 'Your password is incorrect.'

Dr Hunter S Thompson to Anthony Burgess:
''What kind of lame, half-mad bullshit are you trying to sneak over on us? When Rolling Stone asks for a 'thinkpiece' goddamnit, we want a ****ing thinkpiece ... and don't try to weasel out with any of your limey bullshit about a '50,000 novella about the condition humaine etc'
Do you take us for a a gang of brainless lizards? Rich hoodlums? Dilletante thugs?
You lazy cocksucker. I want that thinkpiece on my desk by Labor Day. And I want it ready for press. The time has come and gone when cheapjack scum like you can get away with the kind of scams you got rich from in the past'.

Continuing with the Ozone Brass, here's Dr Thompson writing about hifi:
'One of the bass speaker boxes is starting to emit smoke ... or maybe that acrid-smelling blue haze is coming from one of the Universal 3-Way Dividing Network boxes.
But to hell with the smoke; the first time this happened, I panicked and took down the whole system - but when I took the back off the speaker box I realised it was only the insulation burning, which is not a serious matter when you have 80 speakers in one room. According to the human cinder who built this system then left town without leaving a schematic to show me how to put it back together in case a drug addict fell into the wiring, I can afford to sacrifice at least ten speakers to fire and smoke without any serious fall-off in sound quality. The break-point, he says, would be somewhere between 15-20. At that point - with 15 or 20 speakers burned into cinders disappearing one after another in balls of blue smoke - I would start getting some fuzz on the low end, and also a loss in clarity.'
Memo from the Sports Desk, August 1976

Why is it that countries with the word "Democratic" in their names are generally anything but?

Egotist. Noun. A person of low taste, more interested in himself than me.
(Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary - 1911)
Laughed out loud when I read this last night.
