Had a play with the Bubble UPnP Audio cast feature.
With it on (android green robot on screen) and still showing connected to Rendu, I could open Qobuz / BBC sounds / Swedish radio apps and they started playback immediately through my system or another render device (Sonos etc). Those are 3 music / sounds apps on my phone I could try at random.
Ah, also have Spotify! That resolutely refused to see the renderer via Audio cast no matter what I tried.
According to t'internet, it should work unless my android device is not rooted / exposed Android framework or something about Spotify and port 1900.. The latter was a few years ago, so may have been changed.
One line of enquiry but not keen on installing it is Xposed Framework or Magisk, until I have a better understanding of them.
Martin, I remember seeing you had a workaround? Can't find it though.

Sorry Steve I thought about you. Must be what caused the problem Hehe, I share your pain! Fortunately Qobuz (my main 'streamheart'), works perfectly. It's just 'the nice to have' Spotify that so far refuses to play ball. It's somewhere between Android (maybe), Bubble UPnP and Spotify. Sorry state of affairs really. One box supports cast, another can't, one stream host has Connect others don't, some content provider wood work openly, others don't etc etc. Until one system has the $$$s to kill the others and dominates with the killer defacto solution, we are stuck with these half arsed solutions and workarounds. Reason is Hifi as we do it is a small market..

Martin, I remember seeing you had a workaround? Can't find it though. Hi Steve, I stopped searching as no workaround is needed for Spotify any more. Just use the Rendu's App Switcher, select Spotify Connect, and you're away!

Thought I'd install Bubbleupnp How difficult can it be ?
First screen it asks me questions I have no idea about. Given the answer I may still not know what's going on
Where can I find a guide to installing for the technically limited ?

Mike welcome to your Bubble UPnP inquisition 😂
It's a good thing, as it keeps your mind off my system and Rendu / Rhubarb are talking perfectly this evening..
Can't remember the questions tbh. I'm afraid I didn't have trouble answering them..
Stuff about your network, settings you'd like in Bubble, local (network drives etc) and cloud (Tidal / Qobuz etc).
Ask a specific or list them here and tech support will do their best🙂

Spotify is playing nicely. I really like their lyrics scroll feature.
Interestingly, Spotify on current level of kit probably sounds as good or better in some ways than Qobuz did before, that is without Ethernet / optical isolation + Rendu etc..
Then you change the setting in Sonore app, fire up Bubble UPnP / Qobuz and it's a jaw drop!

I know exactly what you mean. The upgrades take you beyond where Qobuz was using Spotify and then you play Qobuz

I ticked If you are using a Dynamic DNS service, set your fully qualified public hostname here (example: myhost.no-ip.net). 188.29.65.123.threembb.co.uk - suggested Auto detect doesn't work Apply greyed out Next Credentials Admin and dots for password No idea

You ticked that you have a media server, so it's asking for the credentials.
Do you really have a media server?
Taking a step back: what are you thinking of controlling with it? Your Bluesound?

Love that Martin had his best Dirty Harry voice on in that part about media server..
"Do you really have a media server?
Given that this is Bubble UPnP and it could blow your DAC clean off! You're asking yourself, do I have a media server or not? Well do you punk?" 🙂

Thanks. Probably not Went back unticked that box Now have a load of things I can do. Status / Network and Security / Media Servers (and more) From the blurb I saw I am under the impression I can send music and films between laptop, phone, TV, Bluesound and probably others Was hoping for a YouTube clip showing me installing and simple use The clips I have seen are straight into using it

Yesterday evening I decided to have a bake off between IFI Zen Streamer and Sonore Ultrarendu+Gustard U18. Both connected to Najda by SPdif.
I listened for a while on Ultrarendu first, warm things up / get acquainted into the session.
Then I switched to Zen.
Very hard to tell the difference on a lot of material. Neck and neck on anything acoustic / close mic'd.
On rockier, harder to resolve material I found the Ultrarendu had the edge for me in my system.
The raunch of a rock guitar - say on Primal Scream's Jailbird, when it kicks in on the RH mid range channels was just that bit raunchier, more grab you with realism, somehow. The lead edge attack just a little bit sharper on Ultrarendu +
This evening I've set Zen up to play through the Gustard U18...
This might be 'cake on cake' as they say in Sweden, since Zen already has the 'IFI Purifier' - we'll see.
I report back in due course.

Fun to be on the review and upgrade path again
Two more things I am considering trying
1) Using the USB over HDMI out from Zen or Gustard via the Audiophonics converter to native I2S input on Najda. (Thx for the info on the converter Martin)
2) Fibre optic Ethernet bridge all the way from main router to streamer input.
