I should qualify my answer by stating that had I known about the new Gustard X26 III DAC I may well have waited for it. For me the X30 is a bit overbuilt with a streamer and preamp that I have no use for.
Gustard has clearly figured out how to get the best from ESS Sabre technology so I don't think there would be significant sonic difference between the X30 and X26 III... plus I'd have more jingling in my pocket.
Mods such as tungsten cubes, better fuses and electo magnetic insulation take stock DACs many steps forward which likely accounts for my fondness for the X26. Looking forward to modding the X30 shortly.
