I got a bufferbloat rating of A+ for the main barn today, so it obviously varies quite a bit, as 4G/5G services tend to.

I've just finished Mother's Day brunch. My buffetbloat is quite high.

Well the addition of a TP Link MR600 with QOS settings of 60/30/10 has been an excellent move! Genuinely surprised at the uptick in SQ. I was going to leave the QOS implementation for a few days to see whether I could hear a difference but decided to go for it from the off. Have had two days with lengthy listening sessions and am delighted with the outcome. The drop in noise is very noticeable indeed and there's a clarity and depth that has appeared as if by magic. Getting a B rating on Bufferbloat but that's fine given that the Sky router gets a D.
Highly recommended.
Thanks again for the heads up Martin.

I have another tip for speeding things up. Change the DNS from your service provider to CloudFare, 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. They are the fastest DNS on the internet and it helps with things arriving quicker. Not sure if it helps with the sound as I have been using them before the QOS change. But remembered so thought I would pass it on.

I used to use Google DNS on 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but these days service providers have caught up and what you gain in external DNS speed you lose in more hops to get there and back. Cloudflare are fast but they do have their outages (TAS/ProBoards use Cloudflare).

I use to use Google and moved to cloud flare. But you are right Google is also fast, way better than BT or Sky or Virgin … sorry stop me. 😀

We use Cloudflare for our hosted sites, but for DNS on local machines I use Quad9 (ie 9.9.9.9). I have not noticed any speed / latency issues.
