BONAPARTE - The Return of Stravinsky Wellington (2017)Here's a left-field entry that I guarantee most of you have never heard of, let alone listened to. BONAPARTE is primarily Tobias Jundt and is a German band. His voice is an acquired taste but remember he is German singing in English. What I like about them are the songs and general style, which is a little different. I would categorise them as electro-punk but less of the punk than you might first think. The stand-out and most accessible song is Melody X, but actually the whole album is peppered with good songs. If you listen carefully, you can hear Bowie's Berlin days influence in this. I really enjoyed the first track, then it all got very boring very quickly, so many of the tracks sounded like they'd just buggered about a bit with track one, and then given the result a new title. Not something I'd go back to, and I didn't find anything to make me want to explore their work further. Sorry, Martin. 3/5, with all 3 points for track one.

Has an interesting sound. Quite Interesting.
'Let It Ring' is quite cool.

Surely some other members must have had a listen by now?

Firstly his voice and style of singing was a bit off and I was thinking, it sure I am going to be able to stick with this. But it actually grows on you, the fun style of his singing.
It kind of reminded me of the Gorilla’s a bit. The production is pretty clean also.
I am surprised that I liked it more than I was expecting.
Good choice.

Surely some other members must have had a listen by now? Sorry Martin I'm well behind on all my posting and listening to any music at all but our GSD pup is becoming independent and my free time is coming back Right this album , all the tracks are very listenable* and there are some real good ones , listening to all the album at once is a bit much at the moment as it's a new sound for me but you could drop any into a playlist . I've added it to my Qobuz favourites and it deserves a 4/5 . *Except the last one

I have played this Martin . . . . lets put it his way, I went into last.fm after I'd finished and deleted all the scrobbles . . . . I shan't vote and upset the balance but there isn't a 0/5 choice anyway! Nice to know who he is for future reference though, always best to be forewarned and knowledge is power as they say So it's not really one for me old chap.

Well you know me Martin, at least you know I telling the truth!
An interesting experiment, always fascinating to see where people are going with their listening, even if you don't enjoy it personally. At least it's not the same ole same ole being constantly regurgitated, like some do.

I played this a few days ago. I couldn't find much for me in it, to be honest. There were fleeting moments of interest, but not much more. Then I played it again on Sunday. Not much changed really, apart from a little bit of familiarity.
It probably only warrants a 2/5 (Meh) on that showing.
