Mansionair - Shadowboxer (2019)Mansionair may not be a group you have come across before. They are from Australia, falling into the Indi Electronic genre, and I only discovered through one of the dealers. HiFi dealer, that is by the way. I was taken by how catchy some of the tracks were and how they quickly got stuck in my head. The Album was released in 2019 and for me the stand out tracks are: Track 4 - Technicolour Track 6 - Astronaut Track 7 - Violet City Track 8 - We Could Leave The recording is fairly well produced with a clean sound, as you would expect from electronic based music. Plus you get 16 tracks! Interestingly, and don’t let this put you off, some harmonies remind me of another Australian band from the 90’s, Savage Garden. In an ‘inspired by’ way and probably not surprising as they were also an electronic based band. Enjoy! Qobuz open.qobuz.com/album/mga20ynmvwpvcSpotify

Alibi is very beautiful. I won't rate the album yet as the vocals don't pull me in (vocals often ruin great music for me) but I'll give it time to see how it all sounds to me after a few more listens.

Gosh, not what I thought it might be at all - in a good way.
Some meaty chunky vibes and the vocals are fab! Very nice recording for this genre, too. Not especially deep bass but it has its punchy moments.
Alibi, Heartbeat, Violet City, Shadows are standouts for me.
4* and I shall explore their other albums.

3 from me. On another day it might have been 4, because I really need to be in the mood to listen to this sort of thing, and today I'm not. Tell you what, I'll change that to a 4 as I'd probably have awarded 4 at some stage. Nice enough, well produced, perhaps a bit " ordinary" in places. They remind me quite a bit of " Oh Wonder" (they did the theme tune for Unforgotten) and it's probably the vocal tropes, or alternatively it's just me. Four it is then.

I rather enjoyed this, although the vocals/song constructs were a bit similar on several songs, some good bass & rhythms going on, it reminded in a way of Goldfrapp and Fluke, but more laid back. I will listen again and is on my playlist. Thanks for recommending.
4/4 from me.
