Also did you setup the external aerial

Not subtle at all A few questions around setup What voltage are you using Can you do a screenshot off your settings Apart from R26 what else are you using on the digital side Cables can make a big difference with the clock Shorter runs are best That's really interesting. When I go from internal to external on the R26 it largely sounds the same. The main difference came when I switched up the cables. I was originally using an Amazon basics cable, but swapped it out for a Coherent 6D, which was a big improvement. I just left it at that but now that I've encountered this problem, I've noticed the lack of real difference in the sound by swapping between the two settings. I'm thinking the Basics cable was actaully causing a detrimental effect on the sound, that was fixed by using the 6D. But in terms of big upgrade in sound, not really hearing that. My settings on the LB are Tony's settings that were posted here. How to do I find the voltage? I haven't changed it since I purchased it so it's the out of the box setting. Apart from the R26, I'm using a surface pro with local files via USB into a Mutec Mc-3+, which gave an obvious pronounced upgrade in sound, connected via AES cable into R26. Using a Coherent 6D Gen2 BNC cable 1m.

Nice front end Voltage to the LB best is 7.5v Try it on the mutec reference see if better or worse If no improvement have a chat with Tony and return the LB to reclaim your money Cables make a huge difference with this clock

With me I get more impact and a deeper soundstage and detail

I guess I'll just leave it at that and let the mystery be !

Hello to you all on this thread . I have just joined the forum and this was the reason . I know TonyC from another forum and he advised me about the LB Clock . I took the chance of buying one as Tony had advised me before on changing the SMPS power supply on my Mutec MC-3 USB to an LPSU . Doing this had a very good uplift in sound quality with background noise and the real feeling to the music quite obvious .
As many of you will have realised very few DAC companies have an option for an external Word Clock the Gustard mentioned here being one and some dCS units another . Sadly the early model dCS Purcell / Delius pair I use do not have a clock input though you can make the Delius slave to the Purcell . However for those of you who would like to add an external clock there is another way but it is not that cheap . Good news it does far more than just let you add a clock The Mutec adds real quality to your digital chain (Tony does an upgrade which takes it even further but that is for another day) . I got lucky and bought mine off e-bay at £450 so not exactly cheap but in my view reasonable . I was delighted with what it did for the music in its standard form . LPSU added and things really sounded better . Then the addition of the LB Clock and wow the difference of this tiny unit is just untrue every piece of music sounds more real more lifelike and voices and inflections are easier to hear and understand Double Bass has depth and woodiness in its sound.
I originally bought a cheap 50 Ohm BNC cable from Pro Audio and this sounded really nice . I bought it as a stop gap as I had ordered a hand made 50 Ohm cable from Pickerings Limited . But lead time was five weeks so needed a stop gap . New cable arrived five weeks later and plugged it in . Left it there and did not think about it but after a few days noticed the system was a bit off and not as great as it had been . Changed back to the cheap BNC and wow the real music was back . I sent both these cables to Tony when he did my Mutec upgrade and he measured both the Pickerings one measured a little better but it was really close , Tony then said he was sure I would prefer the cheap one and he is right . So fully in agreement that mad as it sounds the clock signal cable does make a difference . I am looking to source some of H&S cable mentioned earlier in this thread so long as i can find someone to make up the cable for me and will give that a try . Once I get sorted will let you know how it sounds in my system .
I do get that lots of this is a bit too far for some in particular those who say measurements tell us everything , they are very likely right but we just often do not know what the right measurements are . Your ears are not being deceived an external clock like the LB make a difference and the settings are important . Narrowing the PLL using the sleep button can all change things . I get it because for me it seems obvious that digital files and transmission and manipulation is all down to time and how accurate that time is makes circuits and chips work less hard in not having to deal with wobbles and inaccuracy so the circuit stays is it best working window much more than when it is chasing a fixed time . This may be rubbish but it makes sense to me Digital as whole is all about timing and that not only means accuracy but stability as well and then the ultimate for music the reduction of noise.

Glad the LB is working well for you. I found the clock quite sensitive to cables and some being a backwards step.

very few DAC companies have an option for an external Word Clock Careful with your definitions, word clock and reference clocks are two different things. The LB is a 10MHz reference clock and the Gustards etc. have a 10MHz reference clock input. Some DACs (mostly pro) have a word clock input which changes frequency according to the data sample rate.

Okay then I seem to have both as the LB is an external clock and Mutec outputs a word clock which changes with frequency . As I noted sadly my dCS Purcell does not have a clock input (later models were fitted with one but dCS will not upgrade mine ) so I miss out on using the Mutec clock output to my upsampler .Thank you though for the early correction it is improtant that I am talking about the right thing so others can be clear what I am talking about .

Spent a few hours @ the Bodnar electronics empourium earlier today, had a great discussion with the two main men Leo Bodnar & Simon Unsworth very genial and intellegent chaps a few ideas were thrown about.
Lots discussed, what I can say that the GDPSO clock firmware is around 6 weeks away.

Welcome Bencat, Before you rush off and purchase some H&S Multiflex 141, l had reports from Clifford, That TFlex 405 is a little bit better,l have some coming to test,so hold off a little if you can. l would be Interested in Clifford's views on what it offers that is better than Multiflex 141. Thanks you for the heads up Damien I am also looking at Harmonic Technology Digital Copper III as another possibility so I am not going to change the cable I have now in a hurry . That is one of the reasons for joining here as you al seem open to the possibility that these things can make a difference and share your thoughts . I want to both read those additional views and add for what it is worth my own views . I have been advised of a link to a site that can offer the Harmonic Technology Digital Copper III cable and while it will be more expensive than those mentioned it is not running away in to the silly price levels . rambleaudio.com/en/products/harmonic-technology-dciii-digital-copper-iii-50-ohm-bnc I am hoping that someone will order one of these and give their thoughts but if nobody feels inclined I may well just bite the bullet and order one . I will though as you say be holding back a while and seeing what your findings on Tflex - 405 .
Oh and not sure if you will be making your own cables with the Tflex 405 but here is the advice from Tony when I was looking for just the wire Harmonic Tech .
"Here's a tip for you CRIMP the BNC cables and don't buy an BNC end from farnell"
