Hello - I am Mike's other half and although as a poet I am more into words than music I am here in support of the new forum. My musical tastes are undisciplined and, according to Mike, utterly surprising. I belong here possibly courtesy of my one hearing ear - the tried and trusted deciding factor in the: 'is this better like this...or like this?' discussion. Good luck to all in this exciting new venture - it is looking great so far.

Hello Sally, welcome and it's nice to see you here. Thanks for your support and I know you have a good ear, so your opinions matter.
Have a good look around, the forum software is very good so you may be interested in it for your own pursuits.

I am often baffled by what Sally likes and doesn't like And of course besides the magic one ear she also has the magic chair - I discovered recently Sally can do the words, I'll do the music

Welcome Sally What are the surprises in your musical taste Sally will hopefully give some fuller answers shortly I can remember one that stunned me. Started off as a joke "You will absolutely love this" I said (knowing she would hate it) Jeff Beck - You had it coming Sally loved it and it became a testing ground for upgrades Interesting point Sally always used to say I played the system too loud. As the upgrades and dramatic improvements in sound quality came she was happier at louder volumes. Thus was born 'the golden ear' and I notice Sally often picks up things I'm missing - says the supposed hifi nut

Welcome Sally What are the surprises in your musical taste You would have to ask Mike about the surprise element! To me it seems perfectly logical to like The Kings' Singers as well as Jeff Beck...

I need to make a note of the ones that surprise me in future Wasn't sure how you would rate Rainer Ptacek but you have taken to him almost as much as I have

It's a bit testosterone heavy here, Richard, so more female members are very welcome!

As promised a surprise from Sally
King Crimson - Islands
Knew she wouldn't like the first few tracks - no she loved them, mostly the sax sound Liked the quiet tracks too which I thought she might

Thank you for the birthday greeting...and to others which were posted here. As you can probably tell I am not a forum animal - we poets are shy retiring things and tend to peep at the world through our fingers...hence I have not visited the forum much...added to which I forgot the password and did not get around to re-setting. I know, I'm a muppet - Mike keeps telling me so! As to the surprises in my musical taste - I can't even name anything as I hear stuff Mike is playing and even if I love it, have no idea what it is. Accordingly, Mike is the keeper of my musical oddity secrets! Currently listening to radio 4- words, not music being my comfort zone.
