Porcupine Tree - 'Closure/Continuation''Closure/Continuation' is Porcupine Tree's eleventh studio album and was released just a few days ago, on the 24th June 2022. Breaking a little from the tradition of recommending a favourite recording for the Album Choice, I haven't actually heard this yet - I've been saving it for now. I took a look to see whether any members have mentioned having played it in the appropriate place on TAS and I only found one mention of it, so maybe this is completely new to almost all of us? Spotify Link: The full album doesn't appear to be available on You Tube

I've been playing it a lot since last week, and I think it's superb.
The version you've linked to is the Deluxe version. The standard version is just seven tracks. I have the LP, and wish that it had the missing tracks, because they're excellent too.

Thanks for that Martin. I did try to find link, but not being a qobuz user, that seemed a bit tricky so I gave up.

I haven't bought this one (yet?) so I'm looking forward to giving it a trial run.

Those new sleeping pills you have, Chris - I'd go easy on them if I were you (24th June 2021!).

That's a bit disappoin5ting. I kept wanting something to *click* that would raise it from a "3" to a "4", but it never came. I didn't even find enough in it to make me want to go back to it at a later date, and I'm a Porcupine Tree fan. I know it's a bit of a cliché, but it was too "by-the-numbers," I thought.

The opening is instantly the Porcupine soundscape. It's remarkable how consistent they sound. The vocals are strangely set far back in the mix. However, it's early days and I'm still listening.

I’m struggling with this as I do with all Steven Wilson stuff , strange really as with my love of prog I should like him . I find his voice lacking excitement and variation.

Porcupine Tree are one of those bands that I'd been aware of for some time, but that I'd never heard. This seemed like a good opportunity to rectify that. I found the album to be nicely produced, but I have to say that the music didn't grab me and I cannot now recall a single track. The vocals (and lyrics) I thought rather dull and just merged into the whole and it became background music while I browsed the internet. The only thing that really had any impact was the drumming, which I found a bit repetitive and, eventually, mildly annoying. I did try some of their earlier albums as well, but found these no more engaging than this one. So, just a 2 from me.

Well, I've played this a few times over the last couple of weeks and I have to agree with others. I've found it rather unengaging and Porcupine Tree-by-numbers.
3/5 from me.

Sounds like a Steve Wilson album . I would not say it was groundbreaking,I will try the atmos tracks, as I think it’s the way he is going with the surround sound route. It may take some getting into , so far I think it is average ,not as good as their earlier stuff but I will give it time.Gavin’s drumming is quite exceptional as usual.

Just finished listening to this, I was a bit disappointed, it seemed to be a melding of The Flower Kings with later Marilion offerings, both of which are better independently IMO. Overall it was an OK listen but nothing that excited me, I will give it another listen, but for now it's a 3/5

I've only recently discovered Steven Wilson as a solo artist but this is the first PT I've listened to.
I found myself consistently engaged and liked the energy of the songs but whether it fulfilled the expectations of the 11 year wait fans have had is another matter ...
I want to score it 3.5/5!

Forgot about this one
I've tried PT before and been unimpressed. Surprising as they ought to be a favourite
This one has many good elements but lacks that final something which would have me coming back for more
