I have had these speakers for two months now and I thought it be good to have a quick overview of these speakers. First of all I am still happy with my choice, they just fit my personal tastes really well. I had not once felt like ending a listening session early. The mid's are exceptional clear and detailed. What I now notice is I pick up on instruments that were obscured in the mix. The other thing I like is just how well balanced they are. Bass is tight with timbre and for there size go down more than you would imagine. with the treble being clear and insightful. In the past I found I had to be how careful how much I pushed my old speakers (this was basically true for nearly every speaker I had), but with the Evo I can play as loud as I want and all I have is a great big grin on my face without me feeling fatigued. The speakers continue to impress as they have that wonderful naturalness I like but can punch when the music demands. However I think the biggest takeaway is that I feel like I have arrived and have the balance I enjoy. Will I play with my system a bit in the future yes. At some stage a better power amp and DAC just to see what it does, but I have no real immediate itch to scratch.

What a great find, John. I had not even heard of them until you first mentioned them.
Having great speakers is the core of your system sound, whatever the "source first" brigade claim. Of course the whole chain is important, but your speakers define the sound you can achieve. Well done for finding them, I'm sure they will grow as your system grows.

In a way, I still think the thinking of 'source first' is correct. The difference between now and 40 years ago is that you can get a superb sounding streamer, like a Tinkerboard, for under a 100 quid. Back then you needed to spend a lot more on your vinyl or cd source. Cheap but good quality streamers can be partnered with great speakers like John's and they will not be shown as wanting. If the source is lacking in any way, good speakers will reveal the shortcomings so surely a great source is still the starting point for a great system.

I think "source first" was devised by Linn as a marketing tool because they made... turntables!
The reality is that every component in the chain matters and the bottleneck will largely be the weakest one.
Example: Linn would demonstrate a Sondek-based system with their utterly shitty Index speakers. What a ridiculously unbalanced system, and it sounded it.

LOL - I once worked in a pub for a guy who had a system he was so proud of.
Linn Axis > Naim Nait > Linn Index.
Amazing I can remember the exact system as it made such an impact on me - audio equivalent to paint stripper - even aged 18 I knew this wasn’t the way to go.

Agree it's the whole system I also think speakers and listening room is essential. I don't have the space for big speakers, and even with really good tower speakers, I would not get the best out of them.

I wonder why no one on YouTube reviewed these speakers. They have a few online reviews but that is it. They deserve to be better known.

Very possibly because the company won't send them out to the "influencers" on YT.

Yes I guess you right. But often the influencers use dealers also

Really nice looking speakers John. I see a dealer in Northern Ireland sells them, so I might get to hear them someday.
