Has anyone tried Townshend Seismic Isolation Pods under a heavy (40kg+) solid state amp ?
If you have what are your thoughts ?
I currently have 4 Black Ravioli Big Pads (the older ones) under my Vitus but I have always wondered how the Townshend would work, and would I get any benefit from it. ?

I can't speak for them directly but I have my speakers on Townshend Podiums which have the equivalent of an Isolation Pod at each corner, in my case set to take the combined 160kg load of each Usher speaker. They work extraordinarily well. I have my power amp and all main components on BR Big Pads, which are also superb. I'm led to believe the new Big Pads are better than the old ones, but by how much I'm unsure. As to whether Pods or Big Pads are better for an amplifier I couldn't say, short of directly experimenting with both.

Im a bit reluctant to spend £400+ on the townshend to try under my amp, may look for a 30 day retun option from a dealer. Or as you say the new BR big pads are better than the old I may give those a try first.

Latest Black Ravioli under all my kit. Creaktiv racks and Townshend speaker stands
Try weight on top of any kit, without blocking air vents of course. Then add more weight !

Yes, I used to have a pair of Meridian mono-blocks on a Townshend Platform. The Lector hybrid is on them as well as several bits of pure electronic equipment on both systems. Where I could not fit in a platform I have used individual pods. Interestingly they made a big difference under an Allegri+ pre-amp. and I have the UK and German ones on them. Max visited a few years back and was intrigued that it made so much difference and I note that he added them to the Allegri Reference in place of the more standard feet on the Enigma. I assume he went back and did some experimenting. I'll find out at the end of the month when the Reference that Sue is replacing the Enigma for arrives (max could not get it stable).
If you want a platform I would call Townshend directly and speak with Sue Townshend. She is still running the company.

When l purchased my Podiums, l rang Townsend directly and they were incredibly helpful- and yes as MartinT says they are superb, so l reckon they would be great for components too.
