Hi Everyone, A bit about me, I got back into music and audio systems again around 2016 after having a long time out, having gone over to home cinema in the early 1990's with a 120" projection screen, Denon amps, Kef THX speaker system, watching laserdisc and dvd. I then worked overseas and then did a Photography degree. Like I said I got back into music around 2016 with a Quad amp & cd player, Audio Physic Sitara speakers. But the upgrade bug bit hard... I have now got a system I could only aspire to when i started this journey, I have tried records and various decks but always go back to CD and Hi res, so with buying used and ex-demo I have managed to a system i am totally in love with... System BMC Audio BDCD1.1 CD player
Highly modified IntelNUC with passive cooling running ROCK with Roon fed with an Audiophonics Linear PSU Vitus RI-101 mk2 with the rare USB DAC board fitted Serhan & Swift Brigadier Mu.2 speakers sat on Solidsteel stands All sat on Black Ravioli Coherent 6D speaker cables, 6D+ AES cable, 6D & 5D Power Cables, Ansuz A2 USB cable Coherent RTZ2 v2 ground box with C1 & C2 cables Custom made equipment rack ( which I made in lockdown 1 to stop myself going insame )
the rack and speakers stands are sat on Track Audio isolation feet. All fed with a dedicated mains feed. Im looking at a few extras later this year or early next year possible a Mutec unit and a few upgrades on the grounding cables, and possibly a better psu for the nuc.
I look forward to my time here, thanks Mark
So here is a pic of the offending system

Hi Mark and welcome to TAS.
Nice looking system. I have items in common with you, particularly the Coherent cables (6D power and speaker).

Welcome Mark.
Vitus amps look like serious players - would love to hear one sometime. Do you feel it's an 'end game' purchase?

MikeMusic - Thank you.
brettj - Thank you.
MartinT - Thank you, The 6D speaker cables are superb, i have only had them in for about 3 weeks, got them at a price that couldnt be refused.
Slinger - Well thank you.
julesd68 - Thank you, I think for me it could be, for the same outlay I can get the entry level model in the range above but would need a DAC, the dac board in the RI-101mk2 is very good, but I think this is probably the amp I will stick with.

I'm also interested to know how you ended up with the Serhan & Swift speakers - I had to Google these, never heard of the brand before ...

Hi Mark Welcome to TAS, some great people on here, probably all a bit kooky but friendly. Your system looks great, interestingly I am about to go to a friends for a few days who upgraded about 6 months ago to a Vitus RI-101 mk2 and I think it also has the rare USB DAC board fitted. I am very interested to hear it as I was then when he was home auditioning several other amps. The Serhan & Swift Brigadier Mu.2 are very nice speakers from what I have read, not that well known here, but look like they are are a great option if you don't have space for a larger speaker. I better not show them to my wife or she will be badgering me to replace my floor standers. If your interested the Album(s) of the month is interesting and is a chance to get to hear some new music you might not normally listen to, its under Music and Album Choice, there is also a classical one. Cheers Adrian

John - Thank you, Im into most music, but love Jazz, metal, soundtrack scores etc, not an opera fan.
ChrisB - Thank you.
petea - Thank you.
julesd68 - A friend and dealer put me onto them, I had his demo pair in my system for a few weeks and loved them and here they stayed (another one of my ex demo bargins) they replaced a pair of PMC Fact 3 speakers.
ajski2fly - The Vitus is a superb amp, i found the 6D power cable, and the 6D speakers have elevated its performance to a higher level, and the RTZ2 v2 ground box has given even more clarity and texture as well, sitting it on Black ravioli big pads is a worth doing too. I will be interested to know what you think of the amp when you have been to your friends for a listen.

I will be interested to know what you think of the amp when you have been to your friends for a listen. Hi Mark, Well I am back from my friend, Dave, and we listened to his system for 5-6 hours whilst I was there. A mix of music Ravi Shankar - Portrait of Genius, St Germain - Tourist and King Crimson - The Power to Believe all on vinyl I took along as reference records, and This Winter Machine - Kites(CD). Also played was Jeff Beck - Truth (CD), Supertramp - Crime of the Century)LP), Robin Trower - For Earth Below(LP) and Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Somewhere in Africa, Michael Hedges - Oracle(CD) and Miles Davis - Miles Smile(SACD). I was very impressed with the Vitus R101, and yes his does have the USB DAC. It is fed from a SME 20/3 TT with MK V arm and Micro Benz LP-S cartridge through an ALLnic T1500 valve phono, also what was a top end CDP, a Yamaha S1000, the Vitus powers a pair of Tannoy Kensington KR's. So a pretty good system. Dave has also recently spent quote a lot of money recently on isolation platforms from Townshend for the speakers and feet for the hifi stand, he says this has made a big improvement of depth and clarity and tightened up the bass. My first impression was of a very natural and neutral musical presentation, not dissimilar from my own system. My system has same cartridge but Project Signature 10 TT, Audiovalve Sunilda Phonostage, into a Krell KSA80 power amp via an Audiolab 8000CDQ acting as pre-amp, a slightly unusual set up but it works very well. The output is from pair of Wilson Benesch Vectors, which are very neutral and detailed. After listening for a couple of hours to various sides of the LPs above and some tracks from the CD, I could not really fault the music produced from Dave's system, I found myself instinctively tapping my foot along to the music and grinning at certain sections of music I particularly like. The Ravi Shankar sounded completely realistic as if the group was in the room playing their instruments and each very easily to locate in the sound stage, the detail of the hand drums and the ability to hear the infection of the skins was great. One interesting thing was that I noticed that on one of the St Germain tracks there is two trumpets playing and not one, something I must check out on my system. If I had one slightly criticism I occasionally felt the presentation was a little clinical compared to my set up but that is being very picky. So I was very impressed, and if I could afford one I would be keen to audition it in my set up. It would certainly be interesting to see if I preferred it to the Krell which I love.

Sounds like you had a great time, Ever since putting the Vitus into my system over 18 months ago, I stopped looking at other amps, the USB DAC board is very capable for its price, The grip the amp has on the speakers is what I like suble but great dynamics and drive when needed.
If you ever do audition one that would be one of the heavy weight shoot out and would make for interesting listening and a great read of the report.
Thats a great system you have by the way.
If your ever up my neck of the woods your welcome to have a listen.

Thanks Mark, I had a bit of a journey getting to what I have now, made some silly mistakes on the way, but happy now. Realised there is always something to tempt, not necessarily better just a little different, certainly once you reach a certain level,
