We've got various food-based threads, but sometimes one finds something delicious that is difficult to shoehorn into one of them. So, if it tastes good, and isn't simply "the best-tasting substitute" for something else (there's already a "Vegetarian, Vegan and Plant-Based foods" thread) stick it in here. If possible, I'd like to keep it for the reaslly good stuff, as opposed to "oh, these are quite nice," products.
I'll kick off with two cheesy things I've sung hymns to before.
#1 - Pie d'Angloys Cheese
Martin will back me up on this one because I know he tried it after I recommended it originally. It's soft and I love it on crumpets, finishing it off with 20-30 seconds in the microwave to get it properly gloopy, then a twist each of salt and black pepper. It also works well in salads, or on toast etc.
#2 - Paysan Breton French Sea Salt Cream Cheese
It's whipped to be lighter and has a wonderfully sharp, tangy, edge to it. They also produce a garlic & herb version, but I prefer the plain sea salt. Again, great on toast or crumpets, but also brilliant with your smoked salmon on bagels, or with ham and tomato in a sandwich, or even livening a basic salad sandwich.
My final offering is more of a warning. DO NOT BUY THESE BISCUITS.
I was suckered in when they gave a free pack away at Sainsbury's, and they are "LU Le Petit Biscotte Crunchy Cinnamon & Brown Sugar Biscuits".
Try them at your peril. They may steal your money, and end up demanding your first-born. Once you've tasted them you may well end up asking if there's "anything more" they'd like.
They are horribly delicious, decidedly unhealthy, and on that note, being serious for a moment, the sort of thing you should probably only buy as a bit of a treat for yourself. They are gorgeous though if you've got a bit of a sweet tooth, with a lovely burnt caramel taste. They're not too heavy on the cinnamon either.
