We talk about amps, speakers, grounding boxes, digital fronts. What speaker cables do you use? Happy with them? Impressions? A pair of QED Genesis Silver Spirals, I tried a friends out in my system about 9 months ago, they opened up the soundstage, clearer detail overall and a tighter bottom end, so I purchased a pair. Genesis Spirals have been around a few years now, and are not overtly expensive. I have tried a variety of speaker cables in the past from Monster, Chord, and simpler stuff, my conclusion is that they do make a difference, but a pair may work very well in one system but not in another, which can be frustrating. I have a set of QED Silver Spirals somewhere. Bought them for my daughter's system. You're right about the cost. Not overly expensive. I just have to find them and replace her Chord Carnival. They are somewhere in my jumble...

Coherent 6D, only had them about 3 weeks and wow, the space and depth is superb, everything I have played since putting them in has sounded a lot more real and nusical, very happy with them.

My cable is vintage Western Electric 16ga, as made popular in Japan, but I also have some Audience and Kimber Kable that should make an interesting comparison once I've got a few more pressing experiments sorted first.

Well in a supprise with the coherent 6D speaker cable is they make an Oasis CD listenable, Loving how the '(whats the story) morning glory' is sounding, before the 6D its been on the side of too harsh for me, maybe its my delicate hearing... where did i put Venom - Black Metal...

I have 5 sets of speakers cables. As each set is essentially crossover limited to a particular frequency band, I've not found the need for swanky ones. Good quality OFC is perfect to carry the electron signal from A to B. In the past I've liked DIY 2 x OFC copper satellite with foam insulation, cross wired as a pair. The Ubyte-II it was called. Amazing dynamics and balance, if full range down a twin pair is necessary. I've made several sets for people over the years. After reading The White Paper written by Roger Sanders re coax speaker cable for Quad 57 ESL's having the low inductance that Quad 57's need. Having also researched extensively on the internet including Jazzman53,Jon Rish & others about the benefits of cross connected coaxial cable. I made a pair of UBYTE 2 leads for my One Thing Audio Quad 57's. I had used over the years Monster cable Nordost Flatline Gold & several others, in my room, with my system the Thorsten Loesch TNT UBYTE 2 is without doubt the most even handed cable I have used in 45 years of Quad 57 ownership. The UBYTE 2 was made with solid core copper mesh & copper foil Webro WF100 unlike the stranded core Belden cable favored by Jon Rish & Roger Sanders. My son also has a pair I made for him on conventional floor standing multi cone speakers. The icing on the cake was taking a pair of original One Thing Audio "Widgets" designed to stabilise SS power amps feeding Quad 57's the Widgets also provide minor EQ to correct a couple of small frequency anomalies. I had the Widgets for a couple of years not in use did not work for me with the original leads. I opened the cases the contents is potted & replaced the original wiring, each pair with 6 strands of Nordost Flatline Gold stripped of their insulation covered with shrink tube same as I had terminated the UBYTE 2 with flying leads. My Rogue Atlas Magnum 4 x KT120 valve amp has no trouble with the Quads or the UBYTE 2 cable see the penultimate paragraph of the 6 Moons article, together the amp & cable & Widgets produce bass in "stacked Quad amounts" not over blown just there. www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/ubyte2e.htmlwww.6moons.com/audioreviews/roadtour7/roadtour3again.html
