We talk about amps, speakers, grounding boxes, digital fronts.
What speaker cables do you use? Happy with them?
Impressions?

NVA LS6 - two sets for biamping.
I'm very happy with them. Best cables I have ever had. They were expensive by my standards but not silly money. I shan't be getting any more as these will do me for the next 30 years by which time I won't care.
They are too long though so I shall be attempting some surgery at some point. My equipment support is now in a corner between my speakers (my speakers are arranged across a corner) and so I need much less. Can only be good to keep them as short as possible (I don't run stupid naim amplifiers that need the inductance of 3.5 metres of NACA5).

Coherent 6D with BD jumpers. Best speaker cable I've ever used, including more expensive Kimber KS-3035.
NVA LS7 is also excellent.

Vintage Exposure cables in the UK with Speaker Enacoms on the ends. I bought them new in '89 and have tried quite a few alternatives. The closest I came to swapping was to Townshend Isolda. I liked the way they removed a slight sibilance in female vocals, but lacked a touch of edge in dynamics. After some experimentation and discussions with Max, it became clear that the sibilance was probably due to reflections. The Enacoms solved that completely and so I never got round to taking up the offer from Max to try his F1 cables (he would have made me a special version that could be fitted in the under-floor cable tray if I liked them).
In Germany though I do use the F1 Fractal cables (I bought an ex-demo 2m pair). Isolda vs Exposure gave the same effect and I do have some Enacoms there as well, but have never tried the Exposure + Enacom vs F1 experiment. The small system in the apartment (Naim Uniti Atom to Neat Iota Alphas) uses Isolda cables.
My general findings over the years is that the difference between speaker cables (once they are fairly decent anyway) is quite small compared with mains cables and interconnects which seems in contrast to accepted wisdom in some camps (although I know several people who agree).

Yes, I agree with this.

I have 5 sets of speakers cables. As each set is essentially crossover limited to a particular frequency band, I've not found the need for swanky ones. Good quality OFC is perfect to carry the electron signal from A to B. In the past I've liked DIY 2 x OFC copper satellite with foam insulation, cross wired as a pair. The Ubyte-II it was called. Amazing dynamics and balance, if full range down a twin pair is necessary. I've made several sets for people over the years.

VdH Cs122 - have settled on this for a couple of years, I think. Vivid and in the room. Very happy with them.

Coherent 6D and 6D jumpers.
Intrigued by the mk.2 versions but will likely move up to BD in time.

I can imagine the Coherent cables are good.
Tony's idea of £$¢ may be a hemisphere away from mine...

I can't remember where I saw the same thing last week Pete.
The idea that there were more improvements to be made in interconnect/power cable upgrades than speaker cables. Not sure how true that is, but makes me feel better about my in-wall speaker cables.

My speaker cables are Merlin Scorpion.
Originally got onto Merlin from What HiFi? interconnect winner around 2003. Merlin Chopin were meant to tame a bright system (with my early Plinius pre/power amp).
Was probably more to do with the QED Silver Anniversary, in hindsight.
Sold some of the Tarantula power cables here, and ended up buying the higher spec Verdi and Vivaldi interconnects. Saw the Merlin Scorpion speaker cables (that were around RRP NZ$1200?) a little later. I think the exchange rate was close to 0.3£/NZ$ A bargain for around $150 landed.

We talk about amps, speakers, grounding boxes, digital fronts. What speaker cables do you use? Happy with them? Impressions? A pair of QED Genesis Silver Spirals, I tried a friends out in my system about 9 months ago, they opened up the soundstage, clearer detail overall and a tighter bottom end, so I purchased a pair. Genesis Spirals have been around a few years now, and are not overtly expensive. I have tried a variety of speaker cables in the past from Monster, Chord, and simpler stuff, my conclusion is that they do make a difference, but a pair may work very well in one system but not in another, which can be frustrating.
