Martin what about the 5K-10K life use of the electrolytic capacitors, and the MTBF of chips etc, would that be affected? Are you running now up the slope of the far bath curve of failure? 5K hours = less than a year at maximum rated current/volts/temperature. Some caps are rated at 60K hours and more but the cost. Example Caps

Hi Colin, I sold the Chord not so long ago. With 13 years on it, I would be considering a recap on it if I still owned it. Whether 13 years of mostly being on or cycling the power every day is very much different in ageing is moot, but I take your point.

What is the estimated difference when turning 'off' - where the green LED turns to orange ?

That's still cycling the power.

That's still cycling the power. So the caps get the same usage / wear ?

JP,
For 13 yeads it was OK for Martin, his machine was not damaged. Don't worry it will be fine. But you must make your own choices.
Pendant 13 ans, il était OK pour Martin, sa machine n'a pas été endommagée. Ne vous inquiétez pas , il est OK. Mais, vous devez faire votre propre choix.
