Hello all,
Knowing how important the centre speaker is in surround sound.
I have a multi channel Rotel Power amp (RMB 1555) rated at 120w into 8 ohms per channel. All channels are operating at once. I want to use three of those five channels to power my large centre speaker. (Mirage OM C2) If I connect the power amp up with 3 channels rated at 120 watts per channel into the Mirage speaker, am I putting a total of 120 watts or 360 watts into the speaker? is it safe to do so? Will the extra power channels result in better performance, as opposed to one channel at 120 watts ?
Thank you kindly
Geoff

You absolutely must not connect the outputs in series as you would be shorting output drives to ground. Similarly, paralleling up the outputs will cause them to fight and could be equally destructive.
I can't help thinking that you should concentrate on great stereo rather than a centre channel. Otherwise, use one of the three outputs for that speaker.

Hi Martin
Crikey! Thank you so much for your feedback - you just saved my system (and me!). You make a very valid observation Re focusing on good stereo as in fact when I think about it, most of my listening is in 2 channel. Thank you again.
Geoff.
