< Pianist Martha Argerich invites us into her home in Geneva in the company of her daughter Annie Dutoit to perform with friend and music partner, cellist Mischa Maisky. The programme includes Beethoven's Variations on the Magic Flute, Schumann's Fantasiestücke opus 73 and Chopin's Introduction and Polonaise brillante opus 3. > www.arte.tv/en/videos/098793-000-A/private-concert-with-martha-argerich/

Yes, I believe Argerich and Dutoit were married for four years.

Ah, thanks for explaining that. I do vaguely remember hearing something about it.

BBC Four this evening.
I find the Mendy VC somewhat overrated, but, I will give this a go as it's Janine Jansen performing at the Proms 2005, 7pm.
After that at 7.30pm, a documentary on Bernard Haitink.

I'm never going to love the Mendelssohn VC but this is a performance you NEED to see. From Proms 2005, a fresh faced and young JJ absolutely destroys it, with some of the most fearless playing I've seen. Aggressive, risk taking with an almost feral intensity. Incredible self-belief in her musicality and flawless technique. Every. Single. Note. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01k031g/concerto-at-the-bbc-proms-1-mendelssohn-violin

My French can just about cope with following her narration.

The name "Mischa Maisky" was enough to make me give it a try. [EDIT] I enjoyed every last note. Thanks for that, Jules.

Glad you liked it Paul, I thought it would be difficult to go wrong with that line-up.

Oh my, that was quite superb. I have never heard Shostakovich's 2nd played better. Wang has the magic, alright, especially in the second movement. She sounds totally connected with his sound-world.
Bravo!

Good grief what a cluster ...
1. I want to watch the concert on my TV so try to cast my phone to it. After much button pressing and cursing it finally connects. But, picture just keeps stalling and buffering. Epic fail.
2. No probs - I'll send the signal from my Mac! Er, no I won't, I don't have an Apple TV any more.
3. I give up watching it on the big screen, I'll watch it on my tablet. No I won't. Battery is too low to switch on and takes forever to charge.
4.
