Ok everyone here is the first cut of the TAS Top 50 Albums. You will note that some have tied for position based on ranking score, so on these cases I have tried to find as accurate album sales data as possible, this is somewhat challenging to say the least, especially for Classical and some Jazz albums. If anyone can advise a good source for such info it would be most helpful, in some cases I have had to estimate volume sales based on number of releases and a print print of 10K copies, it should be reasonably OK in the scheme of it all. It would be most appreciated if some more people contributed and then we might get a better Top 50 overall.
Thanks for your help Martin.

Thanks Adrian. I've been totally oblivious to this. I can't even find a recent thread about it Or did everyone except me suddenly get a telepathic order from our alien lizard overlords to do this? How did you know I had arrived from the planet Zog?

What that table says is that we're a bunch of old rockers, mostly.

What that table says is that we're a bunch of old rockers, mostly. What we need is at least another 10 Top 50’s from members, then we might get a better spread. At some point I can put up the top 200 from what we have got, but want a bigger distribution first.

Yes, there are too many single vote entries, it would be good to have a top 50 each with two or more votes.

My plumber was here today, he is into rock music, I read him the list and his first comment was it confirmed it was from a bunch of 55-65 year olds who mainly like rock and prog. Says it all I think. Even though I have other likes these have been lost because favourites are older ones and others are below 50.

Just updated with John's contribution, would be nice to have the specific version of Vivaldi - The Four Seasons, and Ludvic Beethoven - Violin Concertos please.

It would be nice if a few more TAS members offered up their top 50 albums so we got a better spread.
Thanks
Adrian

Perhaps nick193 might like to offer his top 50?

Perhaps nick193 might like to offer his top 50? It's a tough one... I'll give it some thought tonight and get it written down.

Updated with Nick's Top 50(nick193) 4 new entires and a new number 1, if you look carefully you will notice a couple have risen in the charts into the top 50 without Nick's help, this was due to a mistake where I missed 2 previous entries that had slight spelling differences, I think it is all correct now.

Dark Side of the Moon is a masterpiece so I'm glad to see it residing at the top.

It's the longevity, too. Overplayed as it's been, having a proper listen still shows its power to mesmerise.
It's not many albums that have lasted 957 weeks (18 years) in the Billboard charts or have gone 15x platinum.
