Leave it bare aluminum and live with it. Least effort and harm to the planet.

Looks great. Did they get hot then? Extremely. The heatsinks do appear to be helping though. I'll stick a thermocouple on them at some point (with and without the heatsink) to see what impact they are having.

If you use a 10Gbps optical SFP in the EtherREGEN's cage, it runs VERY HOT! I'm glad I've got the heatsink on it.

I'll be staying with ethernet as the A side of the unit is connected to the Fidata server. This already provides a decoupled connection and so the main role of the EtherREGEN is probably the re-clocking.

Leave it bare aluminum and live with it. Least effort and harm to the planet. If the idiot manufacturers did that from the beginning instead of powdercoat, life would indeed be easy. As it was they looked cack. Now they look nice.

Far too good Steve ! Hehe. I'm amazed how well the thick black underseal covers the white aluminium oxide. Sort of soaks in and covers it. It drys with little tack but it never goes hard and brittle to flake off..

Secateurs
Anyone have a favourite or recommendation
I've borrowed various ones the boss has, knackered a couple and hate the rest. I know they are for cutting thin items not often abused !

Yes, Felco. Ina is still using the pair she bought when she started a gardening apprenticeship 40 years ago. They get the occasional light sharpen and lubrication, and still have their original springs. When clean, they certainly do not look their age and work perfectly despite several years of professional use in a tree nursery and pretty heavy use as an enthusiastic gardener.

I agree, can't beat felco. There are a number of different models including one where one of the handles rotates to stop your fingers getting sore. It is however quite possible to wear them out. The red plastic has come off one of my handles, the spring broke and I have sharpened them many times.
Still the best money can buy. Get yourself a holster as well which clips on your belt or top of your trousers. Sharpening tools properly is a skill in itself (one that is disappearing as fast as you can say ipad).
