I have a predilection for downbeat songs with a great bass line and great singing, taking its time about it. Opium does just that, with a drone-like four note bass line that underpins the voice. Great percussion and synth sounds overlay it all, with Brendan Perry's lament overlaid and touches of Lisa Gerrard wailing. The sum of the parts is greater than the elements, as is so often the case with Dead Can Dance. One of those songs I can listen to again and again. open.qobuz.com/track/16834900

I don't know this one at all. It's very DCD, though! Love the percussion.

I like everything about it bar the vocal, but maybe that will grow on me.
Look forward to trying this on the main system when I can.
First time I have listened to this duo - what do your consider their best album Martin?

First time I have listened to this duo - what do your consider their best album Martin? Either the above album Anastasis or the wonderful live album In Concert. Try Rakim from that album.
