Full title The New Tony Williams Lifetime - Million Dollar Legs Drumming like you have never heard before. A drummer's drummer who played with Miles Davis amongst others Jazz fusion at the very best, The New Lifetime has Tony Williams , Allan Holdsworth, Alan Pasqua and Tony Newton. Bought this in 1976 and still one of my must have albums of all time. Still love hearing it 45 years later... This is the second album by The *New* Tony Williams Lifetime Their first album, Believe it only marginally out done by this Turn up the volume for the first track - and leave it there of course ! Allan Holdsworth at his very best. He was supposed to be in Soft Machine and played just as well on Bundles and Land of Cockayne before he decided he had to be with Lifetime I was so very lucky to see Tony Williams play. To see the band play was to barely comprehend it The original Lifetime John McLaughlin – electric and acoustic guitars Jack Bruce - Bass - yes him, the reason I went to see the band Larry Young – organ The sound and the playing was stunning. Likely the loudest gig I have been to Wish I'd seen the later iteration of the band as well

I probably haven't listened to the TW Lifetime, old or new, since the seventies. Alan Holdsworth can be a bit all-technique-and-no-melody for my tastes sometimes, but it'll be intersting.

Pretty Good from me. I quite enjoyed the memories of the 70s. Track 4? Hello? Hill Street Blues anyone? That had Larry Carlton on guitar though, not Allan Holdsworth. The keyboard patches that Alan Pasqua uses really root this album in time, but it's weathered pretty well I think. Anorak fact: Jack Nitzsche did the string and horn arrangements for this album.

I can imagine this sounding good in the context of a live performance. However, to me it sounds like selections from episodes of Miami Vice. I'll give it a 2 for Million Dollar Legs which is the only track of interest to me. This kind of fusion is not my cuppa tea (but then, neither is tea).

This is good Mike you can hear where John was heading and Tony drumming is similar to what Billy would do with John

Tony did some very jazzy albums too. Utterly different but wonderful drumming

This is not for me, I am afraid. Bits and pieces are interesting, but the keyboard sound and style that runs through the entire work is something to make me run a mile. A 2 score from me, but if I were to go by Mike's score descriptions, it would be a 1/5.

I had a good listen to this yesterday streaming it on Qobuz, I liked nearly all of it, but then I do like Jazz/Fusion, some of it could be classified as rock. The drumming is pretty impressive, and the bass playing, like others aspect of the keyboards not so keen on. It is very good but not quite up to Return to Forever - Romantic Warrior levels. I think I need to listen to their first album as well. A 4/5 from me, thanks for suggesting I may have to seek out a vinyl copy.

Wasn't looking forward to this , the cover put me off straight away but I was pleasantly surprised , it was like listening to an old disco record that I wouldn't have liked back in the day but hit me with a bit of nostalgia although this is not that old it sounded 70s-ish . Pretty good - 3/5
