Tried both over the years and it seems I like to mix.
Happy accident : I used to tape John Peel shows. Cut out the tracks I liked Rerecorded them onto cassette Played them in the car
Some work fantastically well together
Back filled and bought all those albums ..... doesn't work so well
Finding this is still true as a play everything by one artist. Often want to go off in a different direction

I mix it up all the time, jumping genres and even switching between classical and modern.
One thing leads to another and it's a different chain every time.

I also force myself to following orders of albums
The album playlist comes into order not by choice (except this is roughly the order I bought them) I also jump off into a place in the alphabet, currently H and cherry picking my top ratings from the selection I have Every now and again I choose an album or artist to play Then there is the sampling and following rabbits down holes which leads off in all sorts of directions Can't even remember where Blue States a current favourite came from
