Crippled Black Pheonix - Great Escape Apologies for the delay in posting this one but I have been very busy having moved on Jan 7 to a bungalow that is needing total renovation. A very good friend sent me this on CD when I was recovering from a triple bypass, and I really enjoyed listening to it then and often listen to it now. Musically I think it is on the grande scale and has some epics points in the album, will probably going down as a classic with time IMO. Difficult to define really 'progressive rock, post-rock, ambient, experimental rock, macabre rock' you decide, whatever it is I think its very good, I hope you enjoy it. By the way their newest is very good as well. QOBUZTIDAL

What an amazingly varied album. Strong 4/5,apart from the first track and Las Diabolicas with their annoying voice overs. I'd have to skip those bits. Overall, I really enjoyed the music. Excellent sound quality, too.

I'm going to score this a 3/5. Some of the quieter passages reminded me of Explosions In tThe Sky. The track "We Forgotten Who We Are," especially.
It also got "a bit Hawkwind," in places, which is, perhaps, unsurprising as Hawkwind's current bass player, Niall Hone, is a previous band member. I liked what I heard - in the most part - but not enough to encourage me to seek out more of their albums.

A 3 for me as well I prefer a album to flow and this one is a bit disjointed for me

This is good music for going on a long drive, but slightly less great for an extended listen. I can hear lots of influences in it. Uncivil War (Pt 1) is good but what happened to Pt 2?
Some tracks are really excellent, like Madman, so I'm giving it a 4/5.

I like The Resurrectionists album by CBP, especially 444 featuring Donald Sutherland. "Crazy. In like so many positive ways. You're on." That said let it speak for itself as a whole album. I think you'll find a lot of quality to appreciate. The sort of thing that makes you wonder why main stream exists;) Originally recommended by some arsehole on Hi-Fi Wigwam. I think his name was cunt. Or the Earl of Sodders. Or some such;)

11 posts and 196 views and only 5 votes, I don't get it, why don't people participate and comment on albums of the month, whether positive or negative it does not matter contributions are all welcome.

I agree, it costs nothing to participate, offer an opinion and vote.
That goes for Classical Album Choice, too.

I thought I heard echoes (if you'll excuse the unintended pun) of Pink Floyd in places with this one. Specifically 'Animals'. I want to play it again but, it's looking like a 3/5 score from me for now.

I've played this a couple more times now and have revised my score to a 4/5. I prefer the sections that don't have vocals and my conclusion that it reminds me of 'Animal' is confirmed. Not just for this reason, but there's definitely a bit of Gilmourishness about the guitar playing. Try listening to the first third of The Great Escape part 2, for example.

Well, I've tried a few times now, and yes I can here some of the influences and echoes that have been referred to, but it just does not engage me. The best part of the album was the opening section I thought, but after that it never seemed to pick up. I can't imagine bothering to search out anything else by them and so I'm afraid it will only get 2/5 from me.

Very similar to Katatonia and Anekdoten but I didn't like it as much as those two bands for some reason. 2/5
Lack of votes might be due to the fact that the poll doesn't appear if you use Tapatalk 😉
