Should have carried on modded the kefs, but played with the subs. l have actually ended up with a strange sub set up, that seems to be the best of of both worlds. l find if l run both bandpass and sealed kicker compc 15" in parallel ,then use dsp to reduce the peak l have a 50hz, l can reach down really low, with a nice impact. Reggae sounds great, and a bit of Kraftwork for good measure. I am really happy and now have low's l just couldn't get with the PAPs. l also moved my xo to 150hz, as l seem to have a dip between 100hz to 200hz, l believe it's a room issue, but increasing the XO seems to have got rid of the dip
Will make the final push on the Kefs next weekend. l am amazed at how much volume a single pair will take.

Nice result I messed a bit with the crossover on the Neos today as running the Kefs full range. The more I can allow the Kefs to do their magic the better the sound in my system. I am going to try the Kef HTS-3001 SE Centre Vic says they are better as allow low/mid bass is better from the Kefs and also better treble. At a £100 a driver I might as well give it a try .

Yes been looking at the centres, just concerned having seen the frequency scans they may be a tad bright, still it's worth a punt John

I have finally hooked up a pair of Kefs 3001 SE Centres This has two bass drivers that take over below 500hz. allowing the Uni-drivers to do more of their thing. It took me a while to dial in the crossover and volume with my bass drivers and I also had to change the position of the drivers to horizontal for them to image correctly. The give better mid/bass a region I never thought I lacked but hearing some stuff I did not know was on some recordings. The treble is extended but no sense of harshness once I had the drivers positioned. Scale and dynamics are excellent like the salitte speakers they like to party and rock. Hoping that os the end of my speaker upgrades.

I now got them vertical but at 180 degrees from orginal position I really hope this is my last speaker change Damien The sense of scale these small beasties create is the best I heard sounds explode from them if required Before these drivers I would of said my mid bass was one of the best I heard this has now taken that up a few steps i didn't know that was possible.

I managed to get Vic to add some sound damping. This has taken the Kefs up another level. The best I have ever heard my system for sure. This has really challenged some of my thinking about mid/bass The two small bass drivers add a nimbleness that I have never heard before it shines light on recordings that you thought you knew well and adds detail I never heard before on any system. It also means the Neos are not so stretched anymore so now able to hit those low notes. I got a bit more depth and detail and the sense of scale is remarkable. I really wish others could hear just how I pushed the system.

Hi Martin Double Kefs wired in series, Tannoy VS10BP sub Band pass at bottom, mid way is a sealed 15" Kicker CompC. I run both Tannoy and Kicker with pleasing results, best of both worlds, the band pass gives the omph, where the Kickers reach down low to 20hz.

url=https://flic.kr/p/2kT238X] [/url] 20210415_075547 by Damien Read, on Flickr Aha....Now l understand....I plugged my unmoded Kef Centers for just ten minutes this morning before work. And without any xo changes, set up for 2 x modded kef eggs, it was apparent, the Centres are in a different league to the standard eggs, that midband bass, now makes drum kits sound correct, and placement in the Stereo is bang on. That gentle HF raise,is bang on, l found on some recordings cymbals would a little flat, lacking zing..this is now resolved, cymbals sound correct. I am putting this down to the the additional woofers, and moving the xo to 500hz on the UniQ driver, l haven't compared xo, but perhaps the eggs have a slightly bigger resistor, as the HF responses are very flat, and the Centres are more extended and peaky. I can wait to hear what they will be like modded. l plan to run 2 each side, just trying to track down one more silver centre. l have shelved the adding more and having 4 each size. I now have a load of eggs left over, so if anyone interested, or l may end up using the drivers in a DIY build.

Great result Modifying them takes them into a whole new level Both Vic and myself for the last few weeks have been messaging each other about just how good these are. More to come Damien What they do to mid bass is extraordinary and the sense of scale is something to behold in all its splendour.

You might have to adjust the crossover so that your bass drivers are not going so high in my case I am cutting at 101 with the centres I think Vic cuts of lower. Having those 2 small bass drivers is a brilliant idea. Just adds another dimension to the bass as giving a lot of information in that mid bass region My bass drivers now just do what they are good at (Low Bass)
