ĺ am lucky, l have 2 x Behringer inuke 1000 DSP for the duties, the PAP are so easy to drive,l only use one amp. XO is 120hz, with the Gallos at the moment. Just managed to bag 2 more Kefs for £100, perhaps l should go crazy and have 4 each side lol! Damien

That should be plenty of power and you should not have to adjust crossover as zvic changes at 120 however for my system I found i preferred 110 so fine tune with what works for you Damien Crazy is good

Thanks Chaps, just open account. Just thought l would share a photo of measurements of a standard Kef, next stage will measurements with a moded unit. lnteresting how low the little end reach down www.flickr.com/photos/192552995@N08/In regards to woofers, l am playing with a Tannoy VS10BP, this was an impluse purchase, and works surprisingly well Having run PAPs, l had ditch my Behringer settings for them, and surprisingly, they sound good without any EQ, quite tight.Of course will play further l was also going to scrap my Kicker CompC experiment, but will revist them, l think they will shine in a sealed box.On OB they didn't go loud enough, and in all fairness,l didn't alter the settings on the inuke, they where set up for the PAPs To echo your statement John those Kefs are a hidden bargain, and if this was the middle ages, Vic would be set on fire for Witchcraft lol!

Why not go the full Monty and get some Daytons I grantee they be better than the Tannoys for bass

Would love for UM 18 22 Ultimax John, however not the price,it's over £1500 to purchase 4 of them, then would have to buy bigger inukes to drive them. As it stands, the Tannoys does 39hz to 110hz -3db, my PAPS would drop off at 50hz. l enjoy playing around, and just like the Kefs,l am sure there are more bargain out thre to be discovered

What music do you like as you going to be missing quite a lot of music with this set up. Daytons do cheaper models I can not afford the UM18s either

All sorts, Rock based, Jazz Fusion, Prog Rock l guess anything. The Tannoys actually will go down to 18hz,but like most designs, mine starts rolling at 38hz, not the end of the world, l guess it depends on what type of music you listen to. Of course, l still have to play with CompC 15", it has fs of 23hz, and 91db sensitivity, so worth a punt at £99 per unit.

We have similar tastes in music Damien. For this type of music you need at least to be going down to 30/28hz to do it justice imo. One of the benefits of using the Kefs is that I am crossing over a lot lower and this means I am not pushing the Selinium Neo bass drivers as much allowing the bass drivers to play low organ bass notes, something they were not doing with the Faitals. The great thing about the Kefs is they are great with rock and like to go loud without any sense of Fatigue.

For rock, you need to be seeing around 28Hz for most of the lowest notes (even Bassotronics don't go much lower).
For classical, if you want to reproduce organ, you need to go down to 16Hz for the biggest ones (realistically, you'll not be flat at that frequency but you should still feel it).

You more or less echoed my views to Vic, the Kefs are so smooth, and non fatiguing, you wouldn't expect them to be so clear in the mids and highs, and thats before modding them. Funny thing is John, l feel l know you already, as Vic regularly passes your views on to me via email. When, we are out of this lockdown we should all meet up,l am sure there's lots of music, we both like, but haven't heard yet. Hopefully next week, l can post a measurement of the modded Kefs, now back to work 😆

Yes I be up for that. Vic would often ask me my thoughts on his latest upgrades and I often throw some prog or fusion when evaluating with him. I think he used to dread some of the heavier stuff I would subject him too!

20210321_152842 by Damien Read, on Flickr As promised, a scan of a pair of modded Kefs,l can report and you can see from the graph, the big reduction in the lower frequencies, this also seemed to improve imageing, l modded 4, 4 more to go...
