Can anyone please help me with the time signature for Magick Valley by Ozric Tentacles? My brain can't cope with what appears to be a constantly varying beat. Go easy on me, I'm trying to learn.

Seem like 4/4 to me, once the kick drum begins at around 1m20s. Up til that point it's a little unclear because the bassline seems to be playing off the beat.

I'd agree. Most of the elements seem to fit in with a 4/4 time signature. Looking it up, it runs at 126 bpm and that works if you overlay a click track at that speed in 4/4. www.tonescope.net/metronome

Thanks, both. I think my mistake was to try to follow the bass line. Locking onto the drums makes it easier. There's still a lot going on in there!

Me and my chief music advisor agree on 4/4!

Hah - I had just before Magick Valley played Dorset Perception.
Thanks for that, Paul. Now to try to understand it.
