Roger Waters' Radio KAOS is my favourite album of his, but boy it's engineered 'hot'. I don't know why it has such a sting in the treble (even the 24/44 hi-res stream on Qobuz), but the song Who Needs Information is a good one to try. Fantastic song, or spoiled by that top end brightness?

Perhaps old Waters' ears have lost most of their range?😱

More than a year ago (when you last heard it), my system was running a touch bright and lacking in depth. It's now very much better as all my mods were directed at calming it and bringing out more depth.

Would like to nominate a 'Santana Greatest hits' CD It is unlistenable.... I'm listening to the Qobuz stream of Santana's Greatest Hits in 24/96 and it sounds quite reasonable. Perhaps the CD was poorly mastered, or even had the de-emphasis flag inadvertently left off? It's happened before.

Major Lazer feat. Amber Coffman - Get Free features her singing a dance number that I picked up from an obscure Spanish film. In it, she hits some upper midrange notes that used to go right though my head and force me to turn the volume down. In my recent system tweaks, it's a lot better and those notes no longer have the same effect.
I'm adding it to my list.

This one isn't actually that bad, if you like this kinda thing! But the output level of it actually caused clipping on my Najda dac. I had to drop 1 or 2 dB of input gain to clear it. No other track on Spotify or Qobuz etc has done that so far!

Hah - thought I wouldn't find it, eh?
Umm, not really my thing although I can hear how bad it would sound on a loose system.

Ray Lamontagne - In My Own Way I used to think this was poorly produced as it almost sounded like overloading when I played it. Goodness me, it sounds better now. The acoustic, depth and sense of space are vast. There's just a touch of sibilance left to mark it as imperfect.

As said it's not a bad recording, just the recording level thing! Interestingly it's absolutely fine on Qobuz. Only the Spotify version input clips! We'll done Qobuz! I'd love to know what she's saying. It sounds pretty desperate - like she's trying to escape a locked room and she knows Vladimir Putin is coming to get her😱😱😱 Apparently they and many other artists are struggling under the current regime's scrutiny. Seems i was not far wrong. The power of the internet. Here's a translation [Pre-chorus] I've never been stupid I'll never be happy Sad bitch, sad bitch Yes, this is my deliberate choice I never sharpened my fangs I was immediately born sharp-toothed Sad bitch, sad bitch Yes, this is my deliberate choice [Chorus] Cross yourself, when you see me I undermine your convictions I ruin your day with my faded face I don’t care about your indignation Wild dogs are afraid of me and fire This is not a coincidence I sit and puk on your marble floor I bite my teeth at the shadow in the reflection Cross myself when you see me I undermine your convictions I ruin your day with mine faded face Do not care about your indignation Wild dogs are afraid of me and fire This is not a coincidence I sit and puk on your marble floor I put my teeth on the shadow in the reflection [Chorus] Cross yourself when you see me Undermining your beliefs Damaging your day with my faded face Do not care about your indignation Wild dogs are afraid of me and fire This is not a coincidence I sit and puk on your marble floor I poke my teeth at the shadow in the reflection

Steve Winwood - Higher Love Another one recorded very bright and hot, painfully so on the LP as I remember. It's still bright with somewhat recessed bass which is a shame. However, while the higher band used to be obscured by tizz, it resolves a lot better in standard red book digital than I've heard it before.

Muffled and overloading the treble annoyingly.. Makes my ears hurt! What were they thinking?

Try the 24/44 hi-res version? It doesn't sound terrible on my PC system. Not great, either.
That symbol top-right of your screenshot looks like "send to DLNA". Is it that or something else? I ask because I didn't think Qobuz would play with DLNA, which is why I use BubbleUPnP.

That screenshot is of the Qobuz app, it shows the Chromecast icon top right, it's found the CC on the TV in the lounge. I use the Qobuz app to add to playlists that Volumio picks up. But I'm listening with the Volumio app and RPi etc.

Listening to it now, Mike. 2nd track, I hear what you mean by acoustic guitars being set back a little to the right. Electric guitar in other tracks more forward. It sounds a fairly spacious recording, with massed vocals sounding exactly like them. The opening to Seen Enough sounds fine. Perhaps the CD is mixed differently?
