My Dad had a quadruple bypass. In the USA. I have no idea how he afforded it.

That's where he's going Wednesday Thought they were lungs only Looking them up I see they are now linked with Harefield They looked after my late wife, and they're the best in the country i.m.o (and hers). All of their top surgeons and top specialist cardiac nursing staff cover both NHS and private patients. They're absolutely brilliant there. Your pal couldn't be in better hands.

This is the Katy Freeway in Houston. My sister lives there. I can't tell you how awful most of Houston is, devoid of culture and with huge distances involved in getting from one side to the other, or anywhere interesting.

^^^ I lived in a pleasant suburb of Houston for three years in the nineties and rode the Katy Freeway 22 miles each way to my downtown office. Houston is a place of many contradictions... miserable humid climate and some of the best food in the US. The mammoth city occupies more space than the State of Rhode Island. The refineries on the East side of town look like Dante's Inferno when driving by them at night. My time there was largely a decent experience with not one tear shed when moving day rolled around. ^^^

The refineries on the East side of town look like Dante's Inferno when driving by them at night. They are other worldly even in daytime. You don't want to get lost in that area.

That highway is insane. Looks like 15 lanes at one point. The most I've ever seen is 6 on rt. 95 that runs up and down the east coast of USA.
My parents will be moving south in a few months so I looked around as well where to move and discovered I'd quickly miss the hilly terrain of a place like New England. Though Pacific Northwest apparently is similar.

Though Pacific Northwest apparently is similar. If you mean Washington state, it's absolutely gorgeous. Gobsmacking views, interesting areas like the Hoh Rainforest, wonderful coastline, nice islands like the Orcas for visiting. Even Seattle is a relatively nice city.

I like Ken, and as you mentioned, one could always rely on his honesty, which was usually how he tended to sabotage himself, unfortunately. He wouldn't " bend" even when it would have been the easier road to take. Even if sometimes misguided, the man had principles, and he stuck by them.
