This is my venerable A&R A60, my first real Hi-Fi purchase back in 1982. It’s been a stalwart over the years, more recently as a back-up or stand-by for friends and family or a reliable reference for comparison with DIY gear.
Many years ago I fitted it with the AP module which allows you to separate the pre and power amps. My original intention was to get hold of an SA60 and bi-amp the Heybrook HB3s I had at the time, but somehow I didn’t get round to it. Later, I also fitted twin loudspeaker sockets to allow bi-wiring.
It’s had a long and active life, so the woodwork is a bit scruffy but it still sounds great. All A60s of this age would probably benefit from new reservoir caps, but it’s not showing any signs of deterioration.
I’m including RCA adaptors for the disc input, the combined aux/tuner input that comes with the AP adaptor and the AP input/output socket.
A60 £100.
I also have an A&R MC60 moving coil pre-amp, which is purpose-built for the A60 and the cartridge loading module . These fit all models after s/no. 13250. The MC60 mis basically the guts os an A&R HA10 with a PCB socket so it will fit straight on to the A60 PCB. The cartridge loading mosule also fits onto the A60 PCB and allows you to select different levels of input impedance and capacitance for either MC or MM cartridges.
MC60 £35
CLM £10.
Finally, I have the matching T21 tuner. A&R were renowned for producing beautifully clean-sounding tuners. This one hasn’t been used for many years, and as far as I know it’s working fine but I have no way of testing it as I no longer have access to an FM aerial. The lights come on when it’s powered up, but that’s all I can be sure of!
T21 £25
Happy to post all of the above. The A60 and T21 will be £15. Due to the way DPD price their deliveries, if you want both, that would still ship for £15.
The MC60 and CLM will each be £5, if sold with the A60 they will be included.
All can be collected from South Devon or South Somerset, or I may deliver a reasonable distance for the cost of the diesel.
