Hi All, i need an explanation on why an older sony sacd/dvd player wont play Enhanced sacd's but will play proper sacd's ?. many thanks in advance. Tim

I guess, like Blu-ray players, the machines need to keep up with advances in the format. BD players can update their firmware from a newer disc. I don't believe this feature is available in many (or any) SACD players.

Have 1000s of Sacds single layer & Hybrid dual layer & SHM but never heard of Enhanced SACD before

Sorry all i meant hybrid sacd not Enhanced SACD and i've looked it up on Google and found out the information on the differences so thank you anyway. Happy listening.

Older players may not recognise a hybrid SACD and attempt to play the CD layer?

99% of SACDs are hybrid dual layer DSD layer & red book layer & should play on sacd/cd/universal players could you laser be on the way out New SACD player or Universal / bluray player & extract audio DSD/PCM via HDMI ( BOB) break out box with your DAC of choice geerfab.com/geerfab-audio |
