I bought my SP10 from a seller who got in touch via the forum and after a few PM's and a phone call or two, I bit the bullet and bought it. Main concern at the time was obviously sending a few hundred quid to someone I didn't know, and didn't really frequent the forums all that much, however having spoken to him over the phone I got good vibes so the deal was done and a few days later it arrived safe and sound.
It was an SP10 MK2 domestic PSU version in great condition and what really pleased me was that it came in its original box with the proper polystyrene inserts, transport bracket and all the relevant screws, this was a bonus because apart from knowing that it had the original transport bracket and the condition I knew nothing about the 'extras' 😊
I opened the box, checked it over and then stashed it in my computer room. Now at this point I had thought it would be up running pretty quickly, but talking to Phonomac ( Angus ), it was apparent that it would be a few weeks before he could make a Panzerholz plinth for me.
Now I should have gotten the deck posted direct to him for service before it even came here, but with it being the peak of the COVID outbreak I decided just to leave that for now and just wait until the plinth was here, now I wish I'd gotten it serviced in the interim as I will now have to cover two postage costs to have it done and of course more waiting whilst it's done.
Angus ended up finding a plinth he'd built a while back that had a flaw in it, a little dimple on the top surface. Nothing major and I was so keen to have it up and running that I went for it.
So, deck bought in April, plinth arrived last week. Time to get busy 😉
Only took a few minutes to fit the deck to the plinth, feet next and then the arm and cable.
Didn't really have much time to myself over the last few weeks as we (make that me and my son in law) were busy installing 50m² of decking, then I had to remove trees and paint about 55m of slat fencing ( still ongoing ).
I was desperate to listen to it. However the night I built it I was so tired I just couldn't be bothered and decided that fitting my Hana ML cartridge with tired eyes and hands would NOT be a good idea so I left it until the following evening after work.
The following photos will show without explanation, the build. I'm sure you'll be able to work out what's going on.
I'd like to thank Oli for all his advice, Angus for the work he has done, Mike for selling me one of his decks and especially to my wife who pretty much funds all of it and lets me do it in the first place, love her to bits ♥️ 😊
