I find Doug deMuro's car videos rather annoying after a while. Anything unusual is 'weird', a word he over-uses to an alarming extent. Yeah I agree and he's always trying to make something out of nothing. But he seems massively popular. He's done well.

Amp's got 813s! Amp's got 813s! Mine's got FU13s! Regarded by some to be better. And it only cost £260! Sorry. But I'd be asking for me money back. Sounded like I had compacted wax in my ears. Either it actually was an indication of the sound itself - or the recording was pretty woefully captured. Or a combination of the two. But, to me, it was lacking in so many areas, so much so, I couldn't be bothered to listen all the way through, first time. I made the effort with a second go. On the first track I thought the piano was really lacking. There was just no solidity to it. Lower down in the range there was a lack of separion. And I think I'd be bunging a few capacitors in for a bit of edge. I'd rather listen to this, or something from Mr S. And spend the rest of the money on a Lotus 7 S2, Jaffa Cakes, Quavers, and the odd loose woman (the odder the better): theaudiostandard.net/thread/1083/favourite-hifi-vids?page=3 Yet after all these words I know full well that if you were at Munich 2019 you would eat those words. You've fallen into the trap. I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong. I don't have an ego to maintain, as is often the case with some individuals on forums. I can imagine the system having qualities that aren't being captured in the video. I know that from the amp I have. It's the best amp I've had. When I got it the sound aquired a low frequency band that I'd never heard before. I don't mean it just went lower. There was a "base" & structure to the sound I'd never heard before. Not happy with the power supply though and thinking about rebuilding it. Having listened to all the other vids from the maker, can't help thinking the method for recording the sound present, seems somewhat less than ideal, although I can appreciate the reasoning behind it. I've just listened again and the owner's third chosen track wouldn't make me want to investigate acquiring the speakers, at least, even if I had the resources. The thread is about half decent hi-fi videos, is it not? Here's another I'd rather listen to:

I head the DeVores at Munich.
They were just shite. I'd much rather have a pair of AN/Es.
A few friends thought the same.
The room was a joke, though. Really small and not really a room. Just a hut, really.
I seriously hope the DeVores can do better than I heard in the right scenario. I expect they can. They do look really nice in the flesh but then again they cost a lot. So they should.

Apart from Naim DBLs (don't even go there), I have been consistently disappointed whenever I've heard Magico speakers at shows. I have yet to understand what all the fuss is about. They sound pretty lifeless to me, certainly not exciting.

(More) shite-sounding (going by the video) than the DeVores, to my mind/ears.
But then acoustics count for much, don't they.

Obviously less shite-sounding here.
Again, though, less convinced as to the recording method:

Surely the King Geek of vintage electronic gear.
Interesting to watch even if you don't understand I reckon. Well, some of the hi-fi related ones at any rate.

That is one well-kept preamp. It looks almost brand new!
Nice attention to detail as he is replacing components, I like his style.

Cheating really as it isn't a challenging restore but that is a nice preamp in the sense that it is a very good quality item. I wouldn't mind taking one for a spin. I bet it sounds much better than most would expect post restore.
BTW I just love the room he sits in with all the test gear around him. Totally crazy. The guy just loves vintage electronics!

The way he twisted the legs off the posts without even needing a soldering iron was a surprise. I think I would be re-flowing every joint knowing that. I certainly did when restoring a Leak Stereo 20, which is similarly built on tag board.

Not quite sure why but this video came up on my YT stream this morning - I watched it through to find that the dude runs two systems, one being on the 'warm' side and one that is faster and 'leaner'; his choice depending on the style of music being played.
I couldn't be bothered with that personally even if I did have the space - I like a system that satisfies on all fronts.

Agreed - a really good system should suit all types of music.

I love Angel by Sarah McLachlan, it's a good system test as well as some of the other songs on Surfacing.
EDIT: I just popped over and played Angel again. It really does have power, you can feel the piano's lower registers as well as hear the notes. On top of this is McLachlan's incredibly controlled voice, one of the best female voices out there. Add a touch of reverb and that is all that is needed for a greatly powerful, but low key, song.

Watched this video recently. Think Thomas is ok. Not sure about all the speakers he's tried. It takes all sorts to make a hi-fi world, including the insane, and other elements.
He hasn't got time for hi-end cables. So he can't be all bad.
Again, watched Mr Carlson's video a few weeks ago. Bit of a stickler for detail. I like his sardonic sense of humour. Found him some years ago when looking for anything about removing surface mount capacitors. His technique was to simply twist them off with a pair of pliers. I was a bit weary to try it not wanting to damage the board, but couldn't imagine him advertising the method if it didn't work. It worked fine and I've been using the method ever since.

I like how Thomas tries to talk about what he hears. It is clear it is important to him. Ron from New Record day is to much of a fanboy for me. However I like his passion for Open Baffle speakers

Haven't seen any of his videos on open baffles.
Something from Mr S. Wish he would speak English. Think he's lost his Mogo a bit with his presentations:

Shot by me on my mobile Munich 2019.
A decent planar set up from Alsyvox. Probably the best planars in the world today I would say.
This was at Hi-Fi Deluxe, not the MOC show.
Shame he didn't have anything I actually liked music wise so make do with this:D

Latest Kenricks sounding good via my TV speaker across genres there's a lot more on their channel.
Never heard of this three way. Will check these videos out on the system proper tomorrow.
The majority of Kenrick's big JBL speakers sound worryingly boxy on my main system. Wonder how these will fare.

Imagine having the room and the money for this system?
Personally, I'm not convinced that a system of this scale is entirely necessary, but, hey, it's money better spent than people who just hoard money.
