I never was a fan of Westerns, well, not unless they featured Clint Eastwood.  Butch Cassidy..., Silverado, Blazing Saddles, Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia, and just so that everyone hates me, I can't stand John Wayne films, cowboy or not. Odd really, as I used to thoroughly enjoy western TV series when I was young. Bonanza, The Virginian, Wagon Train, Rawhide, The Rifleman, etc. |

I used to love The Virginian and The Old Chaparral.
The Unforgiven comes to mind as a really great movie.

Unforgiven is a classic
The Outlaw Jossie Wells
Open range was a good modern one
I highly recommend the Netflix series, Lawless

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly was an epic.
Unforgiven.
Pale Rider.
Tombstone (the remake).
Possibly the best of all: Once Upon a Time in the West.

Open Range is on Amazon Prime so will watch that.
The original 3.10 to Yuma was superb and the remake not bad ...

I honour of Clints 90th birthday I shall be watching Pale Rider a little later, perhaps followed by Outlaw Josey Wales if I can stay awake long enough.

Those trailers (the above and Play Misty) are awful! True, unfortunately official studio cuts together with cheesey overdub all made for cinema audiences of the time. Hopefully they won't put folk off as the movies themselves are cinema gold. |
