Projector is an old Epson EH-TW3500. It's only 1080P (no 4k), but it was mega cheap and it's still an enjoyable experience. It's really difficult to find a projector for me room too, needed the Epson's big throw ratio to do a 92" screen over 5.5m. Tbh my 5 year old daughter uses it more than me!

Sorry if I have missed it, but what are those nice looking speakers? Yeah they are indeed Meridian Actives, specifically DSP7200.2 The shape isn't to everyone's taste, but I love them!

I was just watching a YouTube video on a 100 inch screen at 1080p on e-scooters. It is a 4K projector but when it is quality 1080p it looks amazingly good even at 100 inches. Surprising. Wouldn't give up on it yet! Meridian actives are good. I heard them a while back at a Bristol Hi-Fi shop playing The Cure and I was surprised.

Depending on how long ago it was, it may have been me you spoke to! I used to work on Sevenoaks S&V Bristol who are the only Meridian dealer in Bristol. I left in 2011 though, so might be too long ago.

No bingo it was there. Amazeballs!
The speakers were facing into the store with the backs against the front window.
I just asked someone to play something and they did. It could have been you:)
Also it was a good while back definitely around a decadish.

Small world eh. We used to hold Meridian days in the shop when the Bristol show was on, used to have a few pairs of 7200s and one year we even had the big 8ks in the upstairs demo room...if only I had the space for a pair of those!

I was never a fan of Meridian kit. Had borrowed a fairly expensive Meridian DAC and didn't like it.
But when I heard whichever model it was in store I was surprised. Bloody hell they're really good!
Imaging aside which is different, I think they were probably an equal of Jerry's MBLs. That sort of territory.
In fact I reckon Jerry would have liked them a lot.

Mmmmm, possibly not. I've heard a few Meridian actives and they aren't for me.

At shows me too. Always they were dire. Always bigger than this pair in question.
This pair was good though. For whatever reason I know not what. Markedly different to the show pairs which I think had displays in top.

OK, yep, I'd agree the Meridian actives at shows sounded dire. And Serge's at Scalford. I've not heard the models owned by the OP, I'm sure.

Serge - isn't he the objectivist who demonstrated some big old B&W speakers some years ago at Scalford?

That's the guy - he's to be found on the Audio Science Review forum these days - measuring away like billy-o Very nice guy, but rather 'focussed' in his views!

The bigger ones (the 8ks) are really difficult to get sounding great. I've only ever heard them sound good in truly enormous rooms. I did have one customer who had a pair in a small barn he had converted to his listening room and they did sound pretty awesome in there. I always thought that they were mainly aimed at foreign markets with the odd few pairs sold in UK. The 7200s (like mine) work much better in moderate to large rooms, but they can also be used in smaller rooms too. We always felt they were the sweet-spot of the range and sounded great twinned with an 808 CD.
