A proper hero and worthy of making an official honour for.

Being someone with the ability to always see the cloud attached to the silver lining, I hope he doesn't get swallowed up by the government's marketing machine. What he has done is nothing short of amazing, and perfectly timed as far as the government is concerned for whenever they need to whip up a bit of national pride or deflect the public gaze from something else.
Please don't get me wrong and think I'm attacking Tom, or his achievement, far from it, he's bloody incredible and he caught the imagination of a huge number of people, but I do worry that he might end up being "used," and his achievements cheapened by an unscrupulous government.

All governments are unscrupulous, especially in misusing the honours list to award some highly undeserving people.
That's why I hope one such award can be given to someone outstandingly deserving of it.

I cannot conceive that his real world achievements could ever be seen to be 'cheapened' in the eyes of every Man , Woman and child, particularly in the UK, of course that wouldnt prevent the Gov from using his story for the purposes you fear.

A proper hero and worthy of making an official honour for. Colonel Sir Tom Moore has a nice ring to it.
