Given that I'm spending 5 days per week working at home (vs my usual 2 or 3 days), I've put some more effort into my music system in the room. I originally went "small" with a Quad 306 sitting under the Limetree streamer and Qutest but the Black Tulips are just so cool. The power amp is c/o Jerry and preamp c/o Julian - I've updated pairs of electrolyics working as bipolars - they are now flims capacitors - the preamp took a huge lift in performance from this. I play Qobuz (over wifi...but it's fine) and files (from SSD and files server). The speakers are MarkAudioSOTA Cesti MB. It's a really fun system - that's what music is all about - and yes it's not set up for critical listening.
Has anyone else setup something for the incarceration?

It does look rather nice.
I'm lucky I suppose as the studio I work 'from home' in here in Germany also contains my main system. The only difference I need to make is to work on a laptop from the sofa rather than at my desk.

I've not setup my computer system specifically for COVID, but it has been greatly used these past few weeks. SMSL Q5 DAC/Amp with USB from computer, Fostex-based single full range driver in wooden cabinets. It sounds very good for a computer-based system. I might get a USB reclocker for it sometime.

Excellent Clive, but what are the little speakers?
I'm strictly headphone listening only now so having bought the Philips cans I am developing that side of things to get to a level I'm happy with.

Fostex-based single full range driver in wooden cabinets. Your speakers look very tasty Martin!

They were e-Bay cabinets designed for those Fostex drivers. A nice easy way to make some rather nice speakers from a known good driver, some lamb's wool, connectors and wiring.

The only difference I need to make is to work on a laptop from the sofa rather than at my desk. Laptop from sofa sounds good, but When I want to *work* I go upstairs and sit at my desk. If I could rejig the house, big time I would extend the room backwards and have a desk and office stuff behind my recliner

Actually, I quite often stand at the tall table in the studio when working on the laptop rather than sitting and I do work at the desk when there are more complex tasks to do and when the use of multiple screens helps. Maybe I should take a few pics.

I love my IBM clicky keyboard, twin 22" screens, decent cordless mouse, connection to Chord integrated and Isobariks

Here's my desk / remote support system. Gigabyte i7 NUC PC, 27" AOC monitor, SMSL Q5 Pro DAC/amp, Fostex speakers in eBay cabinets. It really does alright when I'm not in the music room.
