It's something I tried a while back, but it didn't last long. Yesterday I decided my eyes needed a rest, nothing on my phone could be that important, and instead of checking it regularly I contemplated and relaxed. We did watch TV, well - that's a TV, not a device 😂 When it came to music listening, I had to set up my tonearm! I had taken it off to make some accessories - quickly done and I settled down to 3 discs First one Then Kind of Blue, Miles and Cannonball. Harry Bosch would be in heaven! Then heavyweight vinyl Quadrophenia. This sounded great turned up loud. Not a phone or Qobuz in sight! I will try and make one day a week device free day from now on.

I've freed up from Facebook permanently, a whole bunch of time released from aimless scrolling. I wouldn't want to do without Qobuz, though, that's my music! Well, most of it. As for analog only - haha, no, sod that, my music is all digital. Listening to Qobuz atm in a very cumfy reclining chair in my conservatory, via mobile and chairside amp into Sennheiser HD700 headphones with my cat Bugsy on my lap ... bliss.

Yes, no way I could use only vinyl these days. I'd have to spend a fortune and create boundless shelves for it all.
One day a week though? Yeah!
I might start at the first disc and work my way through 🎶 would discover some things I forgotten or perhaps never heard?!
Fun to do thing in these times.

Before the explosion in albums caused by discovering and buying on Ebay I went through my LPs in alpha order at home and my reel to reels at work. Often albums that were so so became good and vice versa.

It depends on your definition of a 'device'. I would call TV a device and also a turntable. How far back would you need to go? 78s? Nope, a gramophone is still a device as would be a piano scroll. No music, then, unless I sing.
That's not music!

And just look at how much they are enjoying themselves too!

Could also be anything electronic, requiring sustained eye focal distance of less than 1, no 2m😉 Using binoculars would be cheating 😳 (can't believe there's no binocular use emoji!)

Short wave Crystal set

I had a short, medium and longwave crystal set, added transistors, battery power and a loud speaker, back in childhood days! Originally I had a high sensitivity WWII headset that was cool. "I wear my war time coat in wind and sleet". Solder burns on the carpet were a trophy🙂

I rigged a very long piece of wire for my crystal set. Amazing what it would bring in.

I rigged a very long piece of wire for my crystal set. Amazing what it would bring in. Hehe. I had a wire with knot in the end stuffed into a tennis ball and threw it over the roof of our house. It was a very tall pointy late 60's chalet style so a good height. Have a very good aerial. Earth was a copper tube hit into the ground deep. My dad helped me with that, I remember.

Now that was far-sighted: A 5G protection helmet!

The Swedish equivalent of Radio Spares and Farnell is called Elfa. Their slogan is 'Everything between aerial and earth'. (Allt mellan antenn och jord).
Not quite heaven and Earth 🙂

I wouldn't have any music without a 'device' Steve, everything comes from my music server and is controlled by either my phone or tablet. I don't have a TV mind you and I'm now on multiple news free days. I only check the news Mon, Wed & Fri. The world seems to keep turning, the only thing that changes are the Covid-19 statistics and I don't need to know those are going up every day - I've worked that out all by myself. I deleted my Facebook account about 2 years ago and don't have WhatsApp or Instagram. I relax by listening to music, reading my Kindle (oops), walking and watching the daily Mubi film in the evening. So I'm content with that - the biggest life improvement I ever made was ditching the TV 5 years ago.

Good point. I've not watched TV for decades. News free days sounds like an excellent idea

What's a Mubi film?

Streaming service Jerry, they hand curate and pick a new film every day and there's always 30 available. It's quite niche though, art house and foreign language films only - no long form TV drama's or Hollywood mainstream. It's just films for films nerds like me! What I love about it apart from the content, is there's no searching or thinking to do, I just watch a film a day (sometimes 2) of whatever they pick. It's nothing like Netflix or Amazon Prime though, which I no longer subscribe too as it's just not my thing.
