There's also the jumper to try if my eMMC has become corrupted in some way. I can try changing it to Maskrom mode, installing Volumio to it, then rebooting after putting the jumper back to Parking mode.
If that doesn't work I could try the direct microUSB mode but I'll have to find a USB hub capable of powering the TBS.

Alp who sometimes post here has written about his experience somewhere Yes, you can find it in the Asus Tinkerboard Thread. In short, there's not a lot between the RPI4 (underclocked) and the ATB using USB, but the sound from the ATB is more dynamic and deeper bass. Going USB can be an expensive game because (sadly) USB cables, noise filters and reclockers do all make a difference. I should be receiving an AQ Carbon USB cable today (from e-bay) so am looking forward to hearing what that does.

I have to say it is very good. I am currently using it between my reclocker and DAC.

I added a USB grounding cable from Coherent Systems to the TB replacing the IFi USB silencers and going to the RTZ. A bit more clarity compared to the silencers.

I added another USB grounding cable from Coherent from the Tinkerboard to the RTZ I had no expectations of any improvements but more spatial awareness. I am hearing deeper into the recording. I come to the conclusion all digital equipment make noise that influence the sound and lowering the noise floor is important in getting the best you can from your system

My experiments show that a grounding box on every single digital component is worthwhile, so that's what I have.

I really was surprised that this made a difference I would say the RTZ with one cable was better than my 4 IFi silencers Adding the second cable takes it a good bit further I think the Ethos is probably best one per equipment but with the RTZ if you add more leads it seems to help lower the noise floor imo

I thought I update this as a few changes I am using the RTZ with 2 USB grounding cables and powered by a Coherent PSU for the ASUS Tinkerboard A Audioquest USB cable to going to the Reclocker From the Reclocker I am using 2 IFI USB silencers and a Audioquest USB cable to the Topping The Tinkerboard is on BR sticky pads and on the Reclocker I still prefer the sound of my files. However, I can now enjoy Quobuz I no longer hear any harshness. I still use Spotify as it so good for discovering new music I was listening to Al Di Meola and just love how the notes come flying off the fretboard
