So said Harrison Ford, in (obviously) Blade Runner. Now for the "what if," part. Harrison wasn't the original first choice to play Rick Deckard. Here's a genuine list that went out at the time... Can you imagine any of those playing Deckard? If I were forced to pick one, I think maybe Peter Falk could have pulled it off. Who would be your choice, and not necessarily from the above list? What about other movies, any suggestions as to who you think should have played a particular part in a favourite film of yours... or who definitely shouldn't? Did you know that Justin Timberlake was one of the original choices for the lead in Rocketman? Jack Nicholson was slated to play Michael Corleone in The Godfather. John Travolta passed on the part of Forrest Gump, made Pulp Fiction instead, and lost out at the Oscars to Tom Hanks, in Forest Gump. Al Pacino was offered the part of Han Solo but passed on it because he felt it was too "out there." Jack Nicholson, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray were also considered. Hugh Jackman says he was offered Bond in Casino Royale. There are many more and most of them are probably weirder than the ones you can make up. Use your imagination. Would you like to see John Cleese as The Terminator? Jack Nicholson in Ghostbusters? Mel Gibson in Die Hard?

I cannot imagine anyone but Harrison Ford playing Deckard. He was made for the part.

Apparently Angelina Jolie turned down Sandra Bullock's part in Gravity. Bullock got an Oscar nomination.
Denzel Washington turned down the part of Detective David Mills in "Se7en." Afterwards Washington said "They offered me the Brad Pitt part, but I was like, 'This is so dark and evil, Then, when I saw the movie, I was like, 'Oh, shoot.'"
Tom Selleck had to pass up on playing Indiana Jones in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." yet another part that Harrison Ford ended up playing. Harrison did decline the part eventually played by Sam Neill in "Jurassic Park" though.
The part of Garrett Breedlove in "Terms of Endearment" was written for Burt Reynolds, but he turned it down. Jack Nicholson ended up winning a best supporting actor Oscar for the role. Burt has never won an Oscar.
Truman Capote, the author of "Breakfast at Tiffany's," wanted Marilyn Monroe to play Holly Golightly in the movie, but Monroe turned it down because she was warned that portraying Holly might be bad for her image. Audrey Hepburn made the part her own and got an Oscar nomination.
Nicolas Cage revealed that he turned down the role of Aragorn (which went to Viggo Mortensen) in "The Lord of the Rings" series because of the commitment involved, and while we're at it, Christopher Plummer turned down the part of Gandalf, also because of the level of commitment required. Sean Connery is likewise rumoured to have turned down the part of Gandalf, but not because of commitment issues, apparently he didn't understand "The Lord of the Rings" series, or the script.
Of course, the part of Gandalf eventually went to Ian McKellen, and he's guilty of passing up the chance to play Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" franchise, after Richard Harris passed away.
Going full circle - Sandra Bullock turned down the part of Neo in The Matrix. The role eventually went to Keanu Reeves, who she'd starred with in Speed. The only reason she got the role in Speed though was because Halle Berry didn't fancy the gig.
