If your self-isolation project is working on isolation, does it become self-fulfilling?

Sunshine reminded me the kit needed dusting So much dust. Took a while even with good tools, static cloths and stick thing Rest of the room tomorrow after a Pilates class via Zoom What?! You've removed all of that acoustic damping dust? It'll take months to get it back to sounding right again!

I have two personal projects.
Firstly I want to get my Swedish language going again and have started revision on what I have learnt today.
Second, I want to start the guitar course that I have been promising myself for ages. I have all the gear, I have the time so just need the commitment.

An absolute classic that John. So many pros used that book, even Clapton had a copy I was once told. And when you've finished that you can graduate to Bert's "Play Every Day."

That's the problem with self-isolation. After a while everyone just looks the same!

Stage one of a self isolation project completed and successful!
I have swapped the connectors on the speaker-end of a pair of Townshend Fractal speaker cables from WBT spades to bananas and have now substituted them for the Isolda bi-wire pair that were in the system. I had already installed the Rel 5/S and got that pretty good and might need to make some fine adjustments to suit the new cables. These new cables have a family 'resemblance' to the Isoldas, but the staging is a tad better and they have more of the edge I like so much in the classic Exposures cables that I use in the UK (along with a pair of Speaker Enacoms) - actually a lot more I think having switched to "Transformer" by Lou Reed. Having compared them with the Isoldas I have now moved the speakers a bit farther apart which has of course shifted the sound-stage further and closer to how I project it in the UK: I was limited before by the length of the bi-wire pair I was using. I have a pair of Exposure cables (and longer 'single' Isoldas) here also and will switch them over once I have finished the next stages of my 'fiddling' - and I have mislaid the last WBT banana plug that I bought for them and have ordered another.
Stage 2 will be to add a Fidata server in place of the Synolgy NAS as a source of files. That allows me to bypass the NDX and use a USB connection into the DAC.
Stage 3 is to swap the TP DAC for the new Lab12 Reference, but that will need to bed in I suspect before I can get a real feel for it.
There are a few more stages to go after that, including partially re-builidng the cross-overs in the Royd Apex speakers to add some decent connectors and ones that will allow some better jumper leads to be fitted. Who knows, the Arcs might even get an airing!

Transformer has a lot of presence and captured studio sound.

It does, and makes a good test album I always think especially when making small changes.

This Marantz USB mic just landed - very solid, all metal construction.
Let's hope it sounds as good as it looks for my son's lockdown online music lessons ...

Let's hope it sounds as good as it looks for my son's lockdown online music lessons ... Nice. Is it purely to capture the sound of his instrument, or will it double as a vocal mic, Jules? If it is going to be used for voice I'd recommend the purchase of a pop shield of some sort, and either way you'll be better off using a suspension mount, or cradle, for anti-vibration/isolation reasons, rather than just screwing it directly onto a stand, or a boom arm. A cradle with an integral pop shield would be ideal. EDIT Something like this... smile.amazon.co.uk/Moukey-Microphone-Universal-Condenser-Anti-Vibration/dp/B08392Z9GW
