A couple over the last few weeks, started with some of Clive Cussler's dirk pitt books. Wonderful slightly daft escapism! Read James herberts the dark and portent again, vulcan 607 and now onto another of the jack reacher books. At the moment im looking for escapism and entertainment over anything particularly deep

Not the most riveting read, but if it's only 50% true, he's a much bigger fruit loop than I thought. Wow. Scary to think of it. Can you elaborate or give some fruit loop samples from the book?

I've been reading Ursula LeGuin's The Left Hand of Darkness, years after I promised myself I'd read it. She has since died but I haven't finished the book yet.

castbox.fm/vb/65705235Wow. I just listened this podcast Here's The Thing starring Alec Baldwin with guest Michael Wolff, very funny guy, but with a chilling account of his visits to the White House and his decades of dealing with Trump. I can't believe how much Trump and his people don't want to be there and how for them and their individual businesses they see this as a "net-loss" from which none of them will escape unscathed. Wolff is clear that Trump would hand over The presidency to anyone if he could just be rid of it, and that he and his people were just as shocked as everyone else that he won. And, that no one listens to him in the White House.

I'm still not sure how much truth that Wolff is telling.

Lol funny anecdote in there about when Wolff became Trump's trusted media consultant for a while in the 80's and 90's.
He talks of how thick Trump would lay it on when flattering and schmoozing people.
One time Wolff showed up to interview Trump at a bad time so they agreed to meet later at Trump's house.
They sat together near a huge refrigerator filled with tubs of ice cream.
They were there to conduct a serious interview for a no-non-sense publication and Trump threw him a tub and a wooden spoon.
Lol Wolff didn't touch it, he hates ice cream while Trump spent the first 5 minutes of the interview directing servants hovering near the tub, using covert hand gestures and eye-contact, on when and how to move on and dispose of the untouched tub.

Exactly what I mean. So this guy, there to do a serious interview 1 : takes this tub of ice cream 2 takes a spoon then 3 : just sits there with it? I find that odd. Why wouldn't he just say No Thanks we've got work to do (or the like) and why would he just sit there holding a tub of ice cream and a spoon during this interview? Just put the bloody things down!
I'm not disputing what you say rfan8312 but anecdotes like this sum up nicely what's wrong with this situation. Trumps fallen out with the press so the reporting on him is highly biased. He may/may not be potty but you simply don't know as the information we are all being fed is highly skewed.
Dreadful, dreadful state of affairs for everyone.

I'm reading "What the Hell Did I Just Read" by David Wong. It's... weird.

I'm currently reading a biography of the guitarist, Albert Lee. It's made doubly interesting to me because Albert came from an area I knew well in my youth, so a lot of the places that are mentioned are very familiar to me.

The Medusa Chronicles - Stephen Baxter and Alastair ReynoldsTwo of my favourite authors, but past experience of co-authorship has been mixed.
