I wouldn't expect that to have much effect at all! That's exactly what I am thinking. I did wonder if the wrong resistors had been fitted, it has 47k+10k in series

Assuming the headphone impedance is negligible in comparison, that gives an fc corner frequency of around 600Hz, so it does look like it will have an increasing L/R mixing effect above that frequency, but not very much because of the high resistor value.

I think I will try altering the values by a factor of 100 and see what happens.

So that's how these things work -- blending L&R channels together like a pair of speakers do in a normal room, rather than keep them strictly separated in L&R headphone earcups.
Whoa!
It does seem to work, giving a more plausibly realistic presentation (to my ears anyway).

That's interesting - I'm hoping mine arrives today or tomorrow ...

I have altered the values to 470nF and 560 ohm, luckily I had a miniature capacitor that just fitted. Now I can detect a tiny difference. The problem as stated previously is the output impedance of my OTL headphone amp. There is no series resistor on the outputs so any cross coupling is effectively shorted out by the very low output impedance. From circuits I have seen of headphone amps there is usually a series resistor in the output, to protect from short circuits, so the efficacy of the Headspace is going to be dependent on the amplifier used.

My Headspace arrived today.
One of their selling points is it's good for gamers so tried it with my son's headphones and Xbox. No difference either of us could hear.
Will test it with my music set up next.

The Headspace sounds worth a try. My second set of the X2HR cans arrived a couple of days ago. The L/R balance is mostly fine. It does move a tad depending on the vocal frequency, maybe it's my ears or the drivers might not be 100% matched across the frequency range...it's fine really when I stop analysing it. The Headspace could help. Has anyone tried the poor-mans Stax? drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-koss-esp-95x-electrostatic-system

I should be able to report back on the Headspace tomorrow.

I should be able to report back on the Headspace tomorrow. It had better be good as I’ve ordered one!

I've got 5 of them, but I'm deaf as a post so you can't go by that.

Or just insert one in each ear...🙈🎶🦻 the last time I checked I ony had 2 ears Well...I realise you have 5 Headspaces - I was expecting you to only use 2 of them, ie 1 per ear. If you feel you must use all 5 then you need 3 other locations....

So who would like a gleaming new Ferrari red Headspace to revolutionise their headphone listening?? You don’t rate it then...maybe Jerry has a 6th location for it.

It would be a match made in heaven Jerry. Let me know if u want it before I advertise it, I can't be bothered faffing around with more A/B testing etc
